What you quoted had nothing to do with faith, but religion. Sad? no, just entertained by the difference in reality and what people make the public perceive. Either way, I could care less who's feelings I hurt about what I believe and you can take that to the bank.

yeah 3/4 but how much of that 3/4 are real followers? There is no way to tell cause there are people like me who grew up in the Christian life style, still base my title as Christian but in reality, has a belief far off.

Only 25% of that 3/4 only follow their faith. A lot of these 25% are women. America has really grown detach from their religion and the main reason for that is because of [bold]Secularism[/bold].

Usually when you're a young man, college student or rich--you have a tendency to be detach from God. When you get married, have a family or have lost all possession or pride--you tend to want to be close to God.

A person will only need God when something tragic happen in their life. They tend to realize that there is a greater being other than themselves. Take 9/11 for example. When that event took place I've never seen so many people turn to God. The liberal medias are even saying pray to God. My church was pack. People were even standing outside.

My dad for example is agnostic, he curses God all the time. He doesn't go to church at all. But when the doctor told him that he needed bypass surgery he turned to God all of a sudden. This is how his dad died and he knew that he would die the same way too. Man was he in church almost everyday before his surgery. But when the surgery was considered successful, he stopped and went back to cursing God again.

In the gospel of John and book of Revelation, it is hinted that we won't acknowledge Jesus when he comes back, onnly a few will. And every year we are getting worst. The crimes are more hienous, and we're more accepting of immoralities.

My outlook is this: I live my life. I don't really care or even think about religion, I just view it as something people do. I guess i'm real scientific, but i just laugh at the idea of a huge hand coming down from the sky, then molding man. Science FTW

Consider this. For years the stories of the bible were passed down and not written down. From this alone, the stories change (ever play the telephone game?) It has also been translated sevaral times. This too causes changes. Finally, while some may have tried protecting it - men have flaws. It only takes one person translating it to change it.

If this is true, which in most instances it is, why do people still follow such literature? If the literature has been written over and over and over again, what makes it such a powerful piece of literary works? If EVERYONE that reads the bible knows that the translations over the years have changed the bible, WHY READ IT? You know the translations are wrong, and you have no original copy to go back on, why believe it?

This is a point right here why I dismiss that arguement of translations. No matter what the translation is over the years, eventually it will be wrong. If you KNOW its wrong, then why read it? I think alot of faithful people use this excuse to justify the contradictions written within the bible. Simply put, the contradictions would have been there regardless whether or not it was translated. And BTW, if these written words have been translated over the years and have been jarbled, then who is to know what ANY of it really means? Who is the person who can actually tell me what each part means truthfully? If the bible were to be manipulated over a period of time by just anyone, hell, I would think that the apocalypse would have meant the next clensing of GM, and the second coming of Christ was actually the 5th gen F-body.

So as you see, translation makes no difference. If anyone could translate it, then who is to say that any part of the bible is of any truth or fact?

unfortunately this is true, many peple do turn to god in times of need, and forget him the rest of the time...as for most of the 25% being women, i just know im not one of them, im actually a 16 year old male...not to say i dont screw up, i mean...ive done weed, smoked, drank, and street-raced alot without a license (still permitted) :spank: but not once have i ever cursed god...i still stick to my faith :)

i also agree about that times of need stuff. think about it, wouldn't you get irritated if someone only came to you when they needed something and then forgets about you whether they get it or not.

ill use my previous example of people who read the bible passage where JC says believe in me and you shall be saved and close the book. Thats their "way they want to do things", well what about the other stuff in there.

they are living their own path but doing something your way and the right way may or may not be the same. thats why my church always says come and study "with us". having the right mind set not taking everything completely literally is important too. In some verses a translation may say "angel" in others it says "messenger"(just like the devil has angels too and how he can perform "miracles" also), people will be looking for a spirit or something in a white gown with wings. remember its mostly a guide to live your life not a historical and especially not scientific document, even if it may have stories from the past and profecies.

i could prattle on and get more specific but im no minister nor claim to understand everything.

I followed your argument up to here (I'm still drinking my am coffee).

This is precisely the point I was trying to make. The bible has been passed down and translated. It is still a powerful piece of literature regardless, hence people follow it. I'm cool with that. What I said was the issue is that people take what is EXACTLY written as truth. Some theologist believe this is flawed due to the fact the bible has changed. As in, take the messages but not the exact wording because, for example, some words in latin do not exist in English.

But do you laugh equally about the idea of a higher power setting in motion a process 13 billion years ago, that led to the development of man? Incorporating the big bang andevolution as part of the process.

If more scientists would simply acknowledge that that is possible, according to all known science, maybe we'd have fewer people insisting that the whole thing flashed into existence 6000 years ago, with dinosaurs and man walking the Earth together, and fake fossils created to "test our faith". And demanding that schools not teach evolution.

For those religious people who would like to explore that idea further, as developed by a Christian who also happens to be a scientist, I suggest the works of Hugh Ross, or looking at his website reasons.org. They are strongly based on faith and the Bible.

For most Americans their need be no conflict between science and their religion. Fundamentalists on both sides want to fight, but there is no need for most of us to take sides in that battle.

There is no corporeal to God. Meaning he doesn't have an anatomy like we do.

In the book of Genesis it describe God as walking with Adam but in truth his spirit was moving with Adam. God walking was nothing more than a metaphor.

Moses felt the need or forced to write the pentanauch or 5 books of the Bible because people wants an explanation of how things started. It is filled with symbolism and metaphor. Adam and Eve were the first one created because God created them into his own image. But were they the first so-called people by our definition, I don't think so. Because the minute Cain, their son, killed his brother Able he was banished from them and he joined another group of people and started his own civilization with them and from him came a bunch of decendants.

As far as dinosaurs are concern the answer to that is yes. Dinosaurs did existed during the early time of the Bible. Check out these words from the Bible.:

God said he would destroy it. This is as close as you can get when it comes to dinosaurs and men during biblical times.
