ok.. I don't think I will ever say that changing plugs in the V6 Camaro is a pain. Not since looking at the plugs in my boyfriends Mazda RX8. It looks like the wires start right under the throttle body intake, and the wires go down under the back side of the engine. It LOOKS like you wouldn't even be able to reach them with the car up on jack stands.... I am kinda thinking you'd have to be able to get under this thing, and be able to have FULL movement to be able to do ANYTHING with them!!
So after I had my one coil go out, and in the process of elimination of taking the plugs out one by one, and checking them, and the wires, I don't think the camaro plugs are hard to change... compaired to the RX8's

If you EVER have a chance to check out the engine... Its the WORST looking thing to have to work on. Oil filter is in the back of the engine up at the firewall. <ewww> I told him to stick me working on that d@mn thing! HAHHA Not like I would want to get Mazda oil on my hands anyways..:naughty:

      Way to stay on topic!

A friend told me the worst to work on is Jags (I forget the model) because the entire intake and parts of the top end had to come off just to change the spark plugs.

I don't understand why some designers make it so hard to do routine work (except to make the stealerships more money).

No I am not a girl.

        And now back on topic...
Ripping the whole top end off to change plugs... ok, that may be worse! The first time I had to take the cover off a Hyundia Elantra's engine to change the plugs I thought was just a pain. Just a cover though... nothing bad. But ripping the engine apart in anyway, just to change plugs... that bad design!
I think they do it so that you bring it back to them for all repairs. But with the RX8 being a sports car.... they should have made it so people can work on them, and upgrade them easier! Since MOST people with a sports car, bought it for the reason to upgrade and play with it!
Turns out..... the RX8's just had a recall on the ignition system last month! He gets the plugs, wires changed. The PCM retuned cause of the problem, and a CAT check. So no money shelled out. Looking for plugs and wires for that, I found some Taylor wires for 60 bucks, and "plug" was almost 30 I hope that was for all 4!!! But they have it as "plug" so who knows.
With it getting only 17-20 mpg RX8's suck! Maybe this will help get it up near what I get. Although it does crank out a bit more power stock then the V6 camaro does.... :-/

I used to work for Mazda, and I can attest to the fact that the RX-8 is a POS. Not only is the oil filter wedged in-between the intake and firewall, but it's surrounded by hot metal lines (forget what they're for, and didn't really care.)

also, the owners are morons. The engine floods easily unless you rev the engine to 4000 RPM and shut it off instantly. So we get people getting their cars towed in, complaining that it won't start, when all it needs is to sit for a while and let the engine drain.

you mean someone with an RX8 made it to the first scheduled oil change and plug change, without having to replace the motor?

            wow. I am impressed.

just take it in and get a new motor all the RX8s were recalled for new motors.

Well it is a rotory. They are weird and irritating. Hence the cult following and hence people dumping every other engine made into RX-7s.
