  • Rebuild Complete!

After several weeks, I finally got my car back. I couldn't decide what section to put this in (tech, appearance or exhaust)! Here is the short list of what was done:

    P&P heads, matched intakes
    .020 bore
    new pistons
new cam (specs on cardomain site)
    ceramic coated pacesetter headers
    180 degree thermostat
    MSD 8.5MM super conductor wires
    NGK iridium plugs
    Accel 19lb injectors
    high flow Melling oil pump
    complete new valve assembly
    MSD blaster coils

What a difference! People cannot believe the sound coming out of her now. This is what she sounds like now:

I have pics of the engine on my cardomain site, but they were too big to post here (I'll try to shrink them later and post them up).

I'd love to see what she does in the 1/4 - so guys in the NorthEast, keep me posted of events next spring.

I was told to break it in for a few months before racing - aka keep it under 3k RPMs. That's what I asked about next spring.

I'll get some better sound clips and post them to the exhaust section - my camera ran out of batteries.

            (note: drunk post FTW!)

Haynes says that ideal is 500.

Bro, already researching springs and shocks. :naughty: My wallet needs some recovery time though!

As far as break - in dude who built the engine said about 1,000 miles for break in - which is a month or so but then she'll be put away for the winter. That's how I figured a few months.

So how much did it cost you: Including parts and labor?

I'm thinking of the same thing for my Fiero. Get the 3.4 version of my engine.

~$6,500. That includes an entire valvetrain, P&P heads and matched intakes. Everything but the block and rods was replaced including every sensor. Everything was painted. And the firewall and inside fender wells detailed.

Labor included pulling the engine, the rebuild, putting the engine back in, and installing my pacesetters. It cost a little more because the crossover pipe with the pacesetters would clear the chassis. So he had to remold part of the chassis for clearance.

                          Rough breakdown:
1,400 P&P heads, intake, and valvetrain assembled. crapload of parts
2,500 bore, hot tank, pistons and engine build
2,000 labor - pulling the engine and dressing it
700 parts parts and more parts. (sensors, hoses, clamps, pumps, etc)

If you need more specific details, let me know. There is also other stuff listed on my cardomain site.

Now that the motor build is done, its time to give it a big shot of juice eh :naughty:

What compression are you running now?

Before the build, we figured the compression to remain roughly the same. I never followed up with him though.
