how can one team suck SOOO bad. seriously. with a 17-3 lead going into the 4th, you should be able to say, ok, we'll just sit back on some defense, play it safe and let time run out. but no. kitna gives up not one but 2 turnovers. not good interceptions. no. thats too classy for the lions. he basically says "here you go Mr. Minnesota Man, i didnt really wanna win this game anyways" and tosses them the ball... TWICE! the lions suck so bad. you'd think i'd be used to it by now. *sigh* I cant wait till we get rid of millan and ford sells the team to Mike Illich. at least someone in detroit knows how to build a decent team (for all those who dont know, Illich owns the redwings and the tigers)

you should know your franchise sucks when the (could have been) greatest running back of all time says **** it i cant deal with this **** anymore.

id say that sums it up.

yeah, that sums it up nicely...

or you can just look at their draft record.. "yeah, i realize that ive drafted wr's in teh first round the past two year.. I have no dominant running back, both my lines suck and my defense as a whole is awful.. but ya know what? screw it... the 4 wr offense works soo awesome in madden that its gotta work in real life right? wait, i need a decent qb to throw the ball to the receivers? well if theres 4 of them running around at all times one of them outta be close enough to the lame duck passes to catch it right?"

yeah, millan is probably one of the all time worst gm's in sports... he's right up there with isiah thomas.. both learned all they need to know about being a gm by managing fantasy sports teams...

            Dont hate on the Lions

So what, all they had to do was run the ball to let time run down

So we pass the ball the whole 2nd half, who wouldn't do that?

I think 40 seconds is the most time we had possesion of the ball at one time in the 2nd half.

However, you really can't blame the players for the Lions sucking. Their managing is horrible. Their coaches and offensive coordinators are not lined up with the players they have. Every time they get players for their style of playing the coach either leaves or get fired, then they pick up a coach with the opposite style.

True, until they get rid of Millan they will never get any better. I just hope they go 0-8 in the first half, and make a move in management the go at least 4-12. 4-12 would be an excellent season for the lions IMO.

                whoa whoa whoa!!!!!!! here....

dont blame matt millen for the lions parity. they sucked way before he was there. hell to my recollection the best they have done is like maybe 10-6 ONCE. theyve never been "good", at best they were average with a great running back.

granted millen hasnt done much either, but dont blame him, he's brought alot of good players in, they just never panned out (see: Charles Rodgers)

the worst thing the lions did was axe steve marriucci. he wanted to cut harringtons sorry *** and the front office didnt like that and got rid of him. THEN!!!! they looked back and said, damn he's right this dude sucks.

if you guys want to blame anyone, blame the owner. instead of spending money on a team, the money got spent on a pretty stadium for the team to stink up. the owner made the decisions on who to hire. its his fault.

Starting in 91, they have made the playoffs in 91, 93-95, 97, 99. Lost the last game of the year in 00 so they barely missed the playoffs. So they weren't always really bad. Hiring Millen is the worst thing they've done, not firing Steve Mariucci. He was an absolute horrible coach. Also giving Millen a 5 year extension was pretty damn stupid. Way to go Ford. You make a crappy auto and a crappy football team.

Edit: The Lions should do what these guys have suggested http://boards.espn.go.com/boards/mb/...d=35777&lid=22

you know whats funny? all those years have ONE THING IN COMMON : BARRY SANDERS. without him those teams would have NOT made the playoffs.

if those teams were so good so to speak, name more than 5 players off those teams in that time period outside of herman moore, barry sanders and chris speilman who were actually good players for more than a season. i can name at the most 3.

and marriucci was a bad coach? he built a pretty good team in sanfrancisco in his time there...and that was during the time that the 49ers had serious salary cap problems,no qb and a *****y T.O. had the lions let him do his thing, they would be competitive next year.

Yes he was a bad coach. He had a dink and dunk offense that couldn't do anything. 5 yard pass here, 5 yard pass there doesn't do crap. The Lions didn't have the personnel for that kind of offense. He also had NO control over the team..."inmates ran the asylum" Having Rod Marinelli is much better than having Mariucci...even if the Lions are winless at this point.

How can you say that Marinelli is better when they've only played 4 regular season games under him... all of which they've lost?

Anyway, i have to agree with Bibby. The Lions are def. one of the worst teams in NFL history. Think about it. Out of all the teams in the league today (32) only 7 teams have never made the Super Bowl. Of those the Texans and Browns have only been around for a short time. The Jaguars have been around for 11 seasons, but they have made the playoffs in 5 of them. And the Chargers may actually have a legitimate shot at it this year. So that leaves the Cardinals, the Saints, and the Lions... none of which have ever really even been close.

Personally i think that the Lions problem might actually be the name. ... So maybe they should take a page out of Daewoo's book and rename themselves the Steelers.

                              and Mu...

you know why they didnt have that kind of offense? becuase the lions fired mooch before he could put a REAL team on the field. they had 3 big recievers,a qb(jeff garcia), a running back who would be a 1000 yard rusher, but no line to block long enough for any qb to throw or rb to run.(hence why sanders hung up the cleats. the poor bastard ran for his life and earned every single yard he EVER gained)

like i said, the problem is in the ownership. dont blame the coaches who only lasted 2 seasons becuase the ownership peeps cant wait 3 years to win. its quite a proven fact that it takes 3-4 years to rebuild from the ground up before being a competitive team.

dont believe me? look around the league. ask bill parcells.
