That is one heck of a project you have on your hands.

One day I will be able to do something like that, but I'm always scared to take off to many things at once because I'm scared I won't be able to remeber where something goes. And if that happens, I suppose I would be royally screwed.

I've just started to wonder about getting into heavy mechanic things for my Firebird so that I can do all the work on my cars by myself without spending money to send it to a shop, I'm just curious if there is any books out there that would be helpful to read to learn how the engines are built and what I need to know before tearing an engine down.

How did you learn how to do all this? The pics look like teenagers and I must say, I think it's awesome that you have that much mechanical know how at your teen years. I wish I would have had someone that was into mechanics to show me. I have family that are great mechanics but they have distanced theirselves away from the family since I was a child.

the farthest i had gone into a motor was taking my intake off of my car. he had a friend help him a while back changing out intake mani's on his old camaro.

The best knowledge is diving into it and learning from there. We talked to a few people who said it wasn't THAT bad to swap those out. Learned how the motor was put together by pictures, and a few writeups.

We're still learning alot as we go. That's the best experience.

oh and as you said. well he's 21 and i'm 19.

                                teen, 21, same thing lol

honestly I have never taken in autos class in my life, I have a Haynes repair manual but have opened it once or twice. I learn best by reading then doing, or I asked people I knew for help and they were able to walk me thru it. Now I am very confident working on this car, I have bolts and stuff all over my garage and I am not worried about being able to re-assemble the car at all. My garage is cold as **** and I have spent tons of hours out there on the car, I can even add them all up? but in the end it will be well worth it.

and congrats on the motor andrew, whens the car gonna be ready to run?
