i'm going home to sarasota for the weekend to test drive cars w/ my dad. i plan on trying to test out either an evo or sti just for the hell of it. we'll be driving his srt-10 ram around so that should show the dealers that we mean business. :)

Buy a cavalier then i have 2 of them and they get good mpg, nice looking cars, american, and the z24 is a little sporty and best of all you can find one with low miles and real cheap and can have money left over
X2 on the Cavalier. Had mine for like 6 years now. I'd suggest either that or a Cobalt (which will probably be my next commuter car).
From what I understand, anytime a VW has a problem, you have to take it back to the dealer. They will not release repair info on them. Just curious, though, if you think American cars are "cheap", why then do you own a Firebird??
this kind of thinking will allow the domestic companies to produce crap
if there is competiotion we will see better cars for less money
always look at every alternative
that being said, my mom works at GM, and if I ever drove anything but GM I would probably be disowned
I rented a Hyundai once, and she was yelling at me on the phone saying I better not think about buying it lol
When she goes to Enterprise, she demands domestic or she will go somewhere else
a good friend of mine bought a VR6 01 model I think about 2 years ago. I have driven the car several times and I love it. Plenty of power, comfortable, decent highway mileage, handles great. His has all the options except for the cd changer.
The only problem he has had was covered under warranty and that was the transmission, it isn't built to handle the torque of the engine. It was replaced under warranty.
I like the previous version of the jetta much better than the new one.

i have a firebird b/c its been my first and only car since i was 16. there was a time when it was my pride and joy and the only thing i'd ever upgrade to was an ls1. now as i'm getting older there are other things in life more important than my car. i hate budgeting everyday so i can save up for another mod, and never be completely satisfied.
i looked up mazda 3's and 6's and the only ones in my price are the base models. i've driven rentals that would be identical and i'm not a big fan. the srt-4 is out of my price range. i haven't come across any under $12k and i'm sure if i do, it won't be well kept. i did find a couple of wrx's, but they looked ragged out. i'm trying to stay away from something i will be tempted to mod.

what about dodge stratus? my friend has a somewhat newer one ( 99ish i think) 4 door model, theres a 4 and a 6 cylinder model, good gas milage, and you can fit people in the back pretty comfy.
your really liking the jetta though it seems huh? i still think its not a bad choice, good luck with the search.
