Yes, this is a very depressing time of the year for me too. I like October, but November through March can bite me!

turning the clock back means an extra hour of sleep right? I get so confused with that stuff. Why do we even turn the clock forward and back anyway.

Eh, I'm starting getting used to it already. Its kind of weird because I was living in Palm Springs the past 3 months where it was over 100 degrees of sunshine everyday until 8pm and now I moved back to Seattle this month and its a short day of 50 degree overcast and drizzle. It does play with your emotions a little bit

it has to do with the fact that pre 20th century, not much work could be completed at night. so, to get the most out of the day, we adjust our clocks so we are up and productive when the sun is up and out

I thought that was why, so why now though? we can be just as productive whether it's dark or light. To hell with farmer's, I don't eat any fruits or vegetables anyway their all overrated.

But, as the wikipedia article notes, daylight savings is a 20th century thing.

And the idea that it's a farmers idea is wrong. Farmers hate daylight savings, because it makes them get up even earlier. They were largely responsible for the repeal of daylight savings in 1919.

The justification for daylight savings was that it saved coal (energy) because people used less lighting in the evenings. It was adopted by the Germans and the British in WW1 for that reason (which is debateable). Later, businessmen supported it because they thought it encouraged people to shop weekday evenings after work.

                        Great book about this:

Theres also parts on Indiana that don't change their clocks. I know my grandparents never have to change theirs.
