    Re: Dry Ice?

instead of dry ice, you should use liquid nitrogen on top of whatever you're trying to cool

      Re: Dry Ice?

Is everyone stupid or something???? You don't vent CO2 into an engine, thats just plain common sense. You can vent CO2 gas out of the car's engine bay, seems to work well with combusted gasoline aka exhaust for you slow types around here. And that giant sucking action under your engine bay is usually controlled within the airbox and its tubing into the intake, its not a turbine engine under there. If there was that big of a giant sucking action under the hood, I would have lost tools and had a spotless engine due to the fact the intake would be sucking in every piece or dirt.

You can free flow vent out the CO2 from a dry ice box, all the CO2 needs is some kind of escape, as to not build up. I apologize for saying sealed, I meant that wrong, its that the CO2 needs to be away from the intake, which isn't damn rocket science to figure out.

        Re: Dry Ice?

I still say you're the stupid one here. Why on earth would you want to put high concentrations of CO2 near your engine... doesn't really make much sense. There are better ways to cool your engine, but back to the dry ice...

        just don't do it.

                    Re: Dry Ice?

i've done that so many times with 2 liters. they're great for ding-dong ditch...
and for god sakes... how many times do we gotta go over this? the only way you're gonna efficiently cool an intake charge is to inject something cold and combustible into the airflow. This would likely also require a change in tuning and more gas flow so you might need to add another fuel injector or tune so the existing ones pump out more. Probably dont wanna have it running all the time so you'll need a switch. Might wanna keep it nice n' cool away from the engine bay so you could route a line to the back seat and leave the bottle there...
oh crap... looks like i just invented a nitrous system. damn...

although i will give it to you, i know alotta racers will throw bags of ice on they're intakes to counteract the heat of the engine between races. but nothing mounted on all fancy and sh!t...

only way u could really get away with it... maybe strap it to your radiator or intercooler so its cooling down the coils and or heatsink area.... thats just about it....
