  • No more v6 for me.... :( 56k beware...

    Well a bunch of crap went down and my car is no longer mine. The guy I bought it from failed to tell me it had a lien on it and being his wife whom works for the dmv transfered the title, I never got the little certificate saying heh it has one and I take responsibility for it. Well needless to say the guy is going to court and his wife is suspended from work till her investigation is over. And I'm out a car and a lot of work I had into it....

    But on the bright side, I just picked up a '89 Iroc-Z with a built/bored 350, 5spd, she runs about 350hp at the crank. Only downside for now is its still geared wrong because it had an auto factory, so the 2.73s gotta go.

    Here are a few shots of the new toy.





    383 stroker kit is coming next along with a new 12bolt posi to replace the factory one. Trying now to decide if I want to go with 2 4brls instead of one.

          Eh, I'll get another v6 one of these days, probably another 3.4 also. I really want to get more into the advanced parts of building motors and machining my own parts. I have a good amount of general knowledge, its the really advanced stuff I lack pretty hard. For now I still have to go re-set my damn carb, it's running pretty rich at idle.....

                      before you go off w/a 383 & tunnel ram, what are you gonna do w/the tranny? Even a world class will cry & pukes it's guts out unless you get it prepped

                      and don't forget the subframes (should be in there now)

                        Yes, subframes are kind of a big deal. I hear 3rd gens do not have a very good structual rigidity

                          Ya very true 3rds are horrible twisters. No it doesn't have jack for subframes or otherwise. It needs a heavier clutch as it sits....

                          But yes I will most definitely be welding some in, the floor pans need to be replaced too, unfortunately I'm not good with that kinda stuff so I'm going to need some help with that. Tranny build most definitely, it has a 5spd so I'm a little safe over stock, but I'll have it built anyways. Personally I would like to see it bored 60 over and stroked, and then maybe even a small supercharger or blower, shoot for around 450rwhp. I love third gens, this should be a fun car! Already had it down to about 160mph, read off the tach and gears not the speedo that goes to a whoopin 120... Really wonder how fast it will go, but I don't feel like pushing it until I solid it up a bit..

                          Quick question if anyone knows, I have a slight issue with hard shifts into 3rd mainly, it likes to grind if I shift at a high rpm.. Not sure what that could be, its fine if I shift it nice and drive calm.
