yeah, the term ricer is way over used. Someone called the FB rice a few threads ago. Rice has big a** wings, bondo bondy kits, tons of stickers for stuff that aren't even on the car, and a coffee can muffler. A base supra is not rice - they are actually quite fast out of the box.

Ditto, hell you can rice out a Fbody just as easily.

As far as the release of a new supra, those ad's were not in English... It is very possible they are doing a Japan release only for now.

Mark my words. Not gonna happen. There isn't enough time to get a production car in by the end of the year 2007. There have been spy shots of a toyota testing on Nur, but they are more than likely the Lexus sports car. If toyota was going to produce a Supra and release it around the same time as the GTR they would be hyping it a lot more so people would want to snatch it up when it comes out. Also, those pictures are just drawlings. Look at how many pictures of new comeros and Firebirds surfaced, but were completely off point.

Toyota does need a sports car and if they are smart it will be a Supra, but I don't see if happening in the next year. If it does happen I will mail you a cookie.

it does look a bit like the saturn convertible. i was about to buy a saturn sky until i stumbled on my camaro for a small fraction of the cost.

the new supra is going to have big shoes to fill (2JZ-GTE) ..

IMO, The Supra is a very well built car. Not rice. My definition of rice is when someone makes the illusion that their car has power, but doesn't have anything to back it up. (IE Fart Muffler, stickers, A spoiler big enough for a F18 - but no performance)

I don't think by any means it will be released this next year, but I think they may be at least looking into bringing it back. They are not a stupid corporation... So who knows when, but I think they will sooner than later.

I would expect a hybrid sports car as the next thing out of toyota. Like you said, they're not a stupid company, and right now they are making a lot of money playing the Green party with all their hybrid vehicles. It would not, therefore, be who of them to produce a gas guzzling supercar.
