  • Car went to the shop...

    Twice today infact...

Got my LSD and gears installed (finally), then took it down the road to the muffler shop that installed my flowmaster to fix a broken hanger.

The guy who drove my car asked if i had a more powerful engine in it or maybe a supercharger... apparently he used to have a 99 camaro (v6) and mine "felt" faster. Which is cool... although probably incorrect (my fat arse 'vert = slow).

    Anyway, i'm just excited that i don't have 3.08s anymore !! :excited:

So how did he know how fast it was if he didn't flog it?

See...that's the stuff that worries me about taking the car in to get worked on at some shop. I'm paranoid that one of the mechs or lot drivers will run the balls off the car just to see how fast it is.

Eh, i just like looking at my car from a different point of view. Its a case of: "well if thats how good he looks in it... then daaamn" :) But to each his own.

And didn't i make thread regarding this subject a while back?

I took my car to Rearend Specialties (sounds funny i know) and they did if for $300 bucks. If i'd taken the rear end out and brought it to them they would have done it for $150. But they were really nice and v. professional. Only took 1.5 hours (if that) so i'm happy about it.

Re: Car went to the shop...

i just got mine back from the dealer, they had to take 25% off labor just to get it to what they quoted me :) i got a hell of a deal, i got it for like $330, axle bearings changed and all, now i just have to figure out how i'm gonna get the speedo recalibrated, he was gonna call tech support and see if there is a correction code he can put in the tech 2, because gear ratios arent an option, he said they normally have to replace the computer, but $780 later i can spin both wheels, and i'm not leaking oil :) i would rather a dealer that has every gm specialty measurement tool (pinion depth finder mainly) do it than some tranny shop that will kinda half *** it
