I didn't put it up there because I was really angling the question for myself :) I do hear ya but if I was going to go with a steel block it would be an LQ9 for massive boost. I could have put a ton of variables up there.
The way it's going you guys are voting down the middle and confusing me even more. I just need to crunch some $$ numbers and figure out where I want to be, HP wise.
Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.
While I like to see people building up the V6 I think it depends a lot on how drivable you need the car to be. A heavily modified V6 will be making the same power as a stock to lightly modified V8. So if it is just a track car and you want to have fun tinkering with it go V6. If you need it as reliable transportation go V8.
If you decide you want to go V8 I would just buy one. They aren't that expensive and you for go a lot of headaches that way.
Personally, I wanted a GTO or Firehawk, but both are pretty impracticle as daily drivers year round so I'm leaning heavily against getting one. Stupid maturity catching up to me :slap:
You want reliable transportation in all weather conditions, get another car. And a heavily modified V6 can easily beat a stock or lightly modified LS1, the numbers prove that.
1995 Pontiac Firebird
2008 Chevrolet Silverado LT Crew Cab 4x4
Voted to keep the V6, as my daily driver. Maybe drop a Turbo in it to keep up with some of the newer cars. But I would also go out and buy an SLP Firehawk for cruising.
Now Playing: \'99 Pewter Firebird, stock, bone stock, and nothing but stock, so help me God!
Comming attractions: K&N Filter, Lid Mod, Intake Bellows Smooth Pipe Mod.
I dream about: Forced Induction (TC or SC) or NOX (or both!)

I know building up a six is fun and it'll be worth it in the end. But you need a ton of money, money that a lot of us don't have. LT1/LS1 is the cheaper route in the end. If you start to build up teh V8, look out :burn:
Black \'94 Trans Am A4- SLP CAI & Loudmouth
Red \'93 Firebird A4- Ram Air under the WS6 hood, !cat, exhaust.

QFT, if you build a v6 be prepared for headaches, I am half way thru my build and I have atleast 1 box of parts coming in everyday of the week. Trying to get everying sorted out and find time to do the build is VERY hard. It better be worth it in the end.
Remember fellas, money is no object in deciding this as per the subject line. :)
Very true, I also stated in the first couple replies I didn't want to take on a new car payment because this will be paid off hopefully this month or next. I just threw that option on there because I knew there would be some peeps that said that anyway so I figured I would let them get a vote. My mortgage payment will be a little higher but I'll have no car payment so I'll have some flow for my baby, the car.
I'm leaning towards LS1, LS2 or LQ9 because I really want 400+ HP.
