Just bought a new project toy: '88 IROC Z28

Well I saw this Camaro and thought why not? $800 later it was mine! Fair price I thought. The seller was a lady who wanted to offset her hospital bills due to a tumor removal from within her head.

Ok the Specs: T-Top, 305 TPI, 700R4, 10 Bolt rear. 96K on the engine. Runs excellent, no leaks. Already people asking me how much would I be selling it for. Even the ricers glance at me for a launch at the redlight, geez. Nighttime carwash made Z28 looking sharp with newer tires.

So now I own 4 F-Bodies: '83 T/A, '91 Firebird, '96 Camaro & an Iroc-Z28. GM purist here.

In the pics below: Before the new tires, I am fixing a few underhood electrical bugs & on the ramps for an oil change plus plugs & wires, Z28 carwash and a pre-storage pic of my '96 V6 away for the winter. I know about the dirty rims on my '96 lol.

Hey Blldogg,

I respect your opinion/comment/whine about my new found project but this is all about owning another Chevy and I have no problems wasting money towards an American icon of the 80's. Some people would have given up all their efforts or money towards a FORD but I chose to keep the profits alive and well for General Motors, the same company I assume you work for. Therefore my money does in a way keep factory trained people like you to have a job.

I like the 3rd Gen design of my '88 Iroc Z-28 and so do other forum members obviously in this thread, to each their own right? I don't apparently see why you have a problem with the 3rd Gens.

Care to elaborate?

jeus you suck... I was and still am half asses looking for a decent deal 3rd gen.


I cannot find a 3rd gen with t-tops that is near presentable, or even runs for less then $1k.


I got guys selling giant rust boxes with no transmissions for like $2k around here.


I woudl take a v6 that looked that good at that price, let alone a tbi or even a TPI!

I will be taking new pics of it very soon for those that requested. Today my Vaio laptop is not connecting to my LinkSys router for some damn reason which has been taking priority now. It's frustrating to know when you wake up and the system is not working and you are typing from the library now like me :rant:.

I am also surprised that many are bidding for the car already but give me a chance to fix the bugs first and I will consider putting it on the For Sale forum possibly mid '07 for members to peek at.

If it wasn't for techinical difficulties this morning, I would have added a sound clip also. From what I saw underneath it looks all stock but the exhaust is deep and growls at wide open throttle.

Mighty Thor's speed question: I am siding with my 1996 200 HP 3.8 motor, because it's a 5 speed and therefore top end is the final result. The '88 Z28 is the 700R4 overdrive but with 195 HP and all that can change with simple mods. However, off the launch the Z28 pulls very hard with all 8 cylinders firing and it's a feeling I have missed since I been driving V6's for quite some time.
