Lots of Power + Lots of traction = twisted driveshaft

  • Lots of Power + Lots of traction = twisted driveshaft

    On this pass I launched at 6k and DEAD hooked but this happened lol. Replaced the driveshaft an hour later and drove home.



    Past Ride
    1995 Firebird A4 3.8 Turbocharged -- 12.50 at 108
    (If you dont know me, you haven't had a V6 long enough)

    danngg, how much torque are you putting out?

      Wow, talk about some torque. I think that is the worst I have ever seen one break. Did it break completely apart like that? Or did you finish it off the rest of the way after taking it off?

      Either way, sorry to hear about that happening and hopefully you bought a stronger ds this time :)

        Not sure was its made of but whatever it is will not be put back in lol. Not sure what the torque is....we street tuned my car on high boost so I havent been on a dyno latley.

          Yeah it broke completley in half...I replaced it with a stock driveshaft to just get home. I have already takin the stock replaced one out to put in a un-breakable one back in soon :)

            Oh, well good luck with all of it and I hope you get your car back to normal as soon as possible. Also, go to a dyno as soon as you can so we can see a dyno sheet of the torque it's producing.

                  if you went to OSW this would happen because there is NO traction there!

                      looks like my buddies custom fabricated driveshaft on his '92 stealth R/T AWD drag car, i guess lots of traction isnt always a good thing!
