    Re: Working underneath your car

I always use a jack and 2 jackstand and wheel blockers.

I would get a ramp but I live in an apartment. I fix my cars at midnight so that way the manager won't catch me.

I use my floor jack, slide jackstand under, lower car to sit on jackstand and keep jack there so I have two things holding the car up.

I've got a lift in the driveway. Convenient! :) Makes oil changes a 5 min job.

          Re: Working underneath your car

I was just curious, but as my hydraulic jack is getting old and not having a floor jack I was wondering where I could get a high quality floor jack.

I went looking around and I could only find them that jack up to 13 1/2 inches. Does anyone know where I can get one that goes higher, or is that a sufficient amount of jack heighth?

I use ramps when I'm at my parents house, but if I have to do something in my apartment complex I block the wheels, place the jack stands and leave the jack just up against the lifting point.
