  • Should I buy this car

    http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ss=98387&advan

Facts: I want a third generation, I hate my truck, and I don't want a fourth generation even though they are "so much better"

I have a grandfather who works at a tranny shop and can get me a really good deal on a tranny (installed) and another friend who's father paints cars for a business. This will be my first fast car, any comments or things to look out for?

Doesn't look like a bad deal. Best thing about 3rd gens is you can put ANY motor in those things.

hmm... I wonder if my parents would do if they woke up one morning to find that the 81 silverado's 454 was missing and in its place was a 305 :p

I really dont care if it is going to run 12s. I honestly dont, I been driving a 1972 datsun truck for so long even a civic is going to seem crazy fast. Honestly, Im going to guess that a 305 puts out, what, 220hp?? Well, I have been going on 80. If I buy tihs one, I can handel it.

300hp + Me = One less camaro and one less teenage driver.

If a dealer is asking only $600, you can count on some major problems.

If you're looking to go cheap, look for a private seller.

                          honestly WHAT THE ****....

I hate you guys and your sweet 3rd gen deals near you.

I found a few 3rd gens for $600-$1k here. no paint, metal showing on the seats, v6, autos, hardtops, falling apart, mismatched wheels, **** one still had cigarette buts and a girls bikini in the back seat.

I'd take it in a heart beat, that one and the Iroc that the other guy had posted. 305s are doggs, but 350s slip right in, and can be had for like $100 around here, through on an intake and a carb, and you have a fun little car, for less then $1500 total

If it's manual then it's 305 with 170 hp and gobs of torque.

These '80's camaro are torque monster. $600 is not much especially for the body alone which looks good. Lots of goodies you could buy for that car.
