has anyone ever gave blood and the nurse stuck an artery? that happened to me and i have a bruise literally as big as a football on my arm.. i went to the doctor for it today and he said my arm is all screwed upand i have to have it in a sling for the next 4-6 weeks... cause blood leaked out all over the inside of my arm and its not sposed to be there... its crazy.. im pissed

Where did you let her stick you at in the arm? I could see her ripping the vein a little bit at your elbow, but sticking an artery, that's a little crazy.
I would find this nurse and make sure she's isn't just a nurses assistant, because someone who has had the proper schooling and training wouldn't make this mistake.
Anywho, I'm sorry to hear about your arm. Hope all heals well. -

she stuck me in the elbow just like any other time givin blood... but there is a artery that runs right down your humerous bone and thats the one she stuck.. its crazy.. i cant even straiten it out all the way

When the artery is struck, that is common. It is uncommon to damage this artery, especially when giving blood. So you are both right, just talking about two different things. The doctor was referring to this happening being uncommon, Homedog is referring to the size of the bruise being uncommon.Comment

You can't file a complaint when donating something. You are putting yourself up for risk when donating blood.
Also, I've even heard of some weird cases were a woman gets pregnant from sperm she got from a sperm bank and then tracked down the donor of that sperm 9 months later and won in court the right to child support, so keep that in mind next time you consider donating sperm.
I swear, the things women will do these days to try and make a few extra bucks.Comment

when i was haveing surgery some no offense to chinese ppl but some chinese girl "the Ansteisoligist" put the iv in my and turned it on and left the room. all of the sudden my arm hurt like **** and i became real light headed breathin heavy. told them to take it out. talked to my aunt a nurse turns out it wasnt in the vein and the fluid was drippin in the back of my arm. some ppl are just dumb1997 Camaro LS1 RS

You sure it just wasn't burning from it going into your veins to fast?
After I got ran over I was in the hospital for 2 months, by the time I had gotten out I had went through 10 surgeries and was changing i.v.'s constantly and getting them flushed. When they first plug something new into it and are flushing it through it can cause quite the burn in your hand,arm, where ever the i.v. is touching the vein at.
Getting lightheaded wouldn't have happened so fast if wasn't going into your vein because it would have had no way to travel to your brain that quickly.Comment
