You are sure with an absolute certainty she stuck an ARTERY? Thing about arteries and veins is where they run on body parts. Veins are found along the outer parts of the body, just under the skin. Arteries on the other hand are under all the skin, muscle, and other such stuff, usually found running alongside bones. She would have had to stick you way too deep to hit an artery, so deep that she would have had to stick you with the needle being almost perpendicular to the surface of the skin, as to when someone is running an IV or taking blood, where the needle runs almost parallel to the skin into a vein.

Why does that make you not eligible?

Isn't that the Mad Cow years? I didn't know that was a disqualifier though, I just thought they would ask more questions if you answered yes to that one.

probably because they dont no if he could have had any diseases between those years so they just dont allow him to do it. Like if you ever have hepititus, even tho u dont have it or dont have it anymore they still wont let you ever give blood again and they WILL NOT re-test you even if it was a mistake.

yeah, those are mad cow years.
i went to the people that were running the blood drive, and looked at their list of disqualification things, and there are two things preventing me from giving blood.
england from 93-97, and something about italy for more than 5 years i think.

                    Re: this happened to anyone?

Ive given blood many times, back in the day.. at work, if you donated blood you could go home for the rest of the day and still get paid for 8 hrs.

so I was all for that.

Ive never had problems giving blood, but i always have a problem getting a IV put in, whenever im in the hospital, the stupid nurse always focks it up!

yea i'm sure she hit a artery... she went through the vein the first time and was like '' whats wrong with your arm no blood is coming out'' and i guess she thought she just didnt' stick it deep enough so she stuck it deeper in.. and hit the artery that runs along the humerous bone.. i forget its name... but thats what happened... silly nurse...lol the bruise is clearin up some now.. but its still pretty bad in some places

That looks more like a busted blood vessel. :P

After she stuck the artery, did you bleed for the next 30 minutes? I bet that was fun.

Nice picture. Is there any chance of a blood clot in cases like this?
