This thread is not about why you don't think I get a Camaro. This thread is not about how much third generation Camaros suck. If you don't have anything helpfully to say, shad up.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mother and Father,
I need to ask you for a loan and for permission to buy a car. I know that I am asking a lot, so but I think that by letting me have this car, we can come to some agreement that will benefit us both. With this I plan on making some huge changes on my part, paying you back with cash, as well as with some terms that will be discussed later in this page.
So, I pretty much found my dream car, and it is $600. I think you might be able to help me with talking the dealer down, though.
The largest engine available on an 84 Camaro Z28 was the 5.0 305, a commonly scorned engine, but this 84 has a 350, meaning someone, sometime had really loved this car and wanted to get max performance from it. The car has absolutely no body damage (according to the dealer) and has been halfway primered. It also needs the transmission rebuilt. I will cover all repair costs after paying you for the car while I am still driving the Datsun.
The Datsun will not be sold until the Camaro is safe/functional to your standards.
I have been doing my research on this, and a transmission is going to cost about $1000 depending on how I choose to address it. You would not be, in any way, shape, or form, obligated to help me fix this car, though I may sometimes request (ahead of time) space in the garage and heater use. I would try to make sure the car was out of your way by the time I was done (there may be infrequent extenuating circumstances.)
I have been failing my chores lately. I am sure you are thinking that I am not responsible enough to have a car like this, and I hope I can prove you wrong. I'm not promising that I will never ever speed, but I am promising that I will not drive this car in a careless fashion just because of the fact that I will love it to death, and wouldn't want to risk it. I also guarantee, I have no interest in street racing. I will never do it in a car that I own, because it's stupid. I do hope to get into drag and auto cross though. This is all just talk right now.
To prove my responsibility, I have this bargain for you:
* -All chores for that day will be completed WITHOUT BEING TOLD before I go to bed, no exceptions. (I simply cannot promise to get my bed made every day, too many mornings are rushed.)
* -My room will be orderly and in a not-messy state, excluding my desk.
* -Half of the insurance payments will be provided at the beginning of every month (I found insurance for $175 a month with this car. E-surance is cheap).
If any of these three requirements are not met, I am on "probation" from my car. This means my car is allowed only to travel to-and-from school, and work, and on your guy's errands. I cannot beg and plead for an exception, and you are not allowed to hassle me if I'm not meeting these requirements. If I don't meet the requirements, I do not drive anywhere but school and work. YELLING/BEGGING are a direct violation of this contract.
I am responsible for all upkeep/ maintenance, and if the car is in a non-mobile state, I will be forced to take the buss. I will not even ask for the use of one of your vehicles. I will not ask to borrow money to fix it. No, this car is my responsibility, and you will never be required to touch it (not saying I won't occasionally ask for help, but you are not obligated to do so).
You guys are concerned about my grades. Well, this car is the solution to this problem as well. It's simple, if any grade drops below a B, then I am on a minimum 3 week long probation, and then at the end of the three weeks if the grade is not above a B then it is another 3 weeks. My grades are my business until report card day, or I am placed on probation.
So, that is all the responsibility stuff, now for what's in it for you.
I will prep the Chevrolet to be painted. This MUST be done before I am permitted to transfer the insurance to the Camaro and start driving it regularly. I am hoping to have the Chevrolet and the Camaro painted at the same time (You will pay for the actual painting, all I'm offering is the paint removal and the sanding).
This gets rid of the need for anger, yelling, and the other crap that causes problems between us. If my grades fall, no yelling. I know the consequences. All you have to say is what I failed to do, and I know what that means.
Things I am asking:
* The money to buy this car as a loan (I will pay you back in full).
* Once painted, I would like to find a parking spot not under that tree.
* If I want to refuse to give Charice a ride because she will get the inside of my car dirty or anything else along those lines, that is my right.
* You will have keys to my car, but you will treat it like the same respect you would treat Uncle Darrel’s car when he lived here.
Cliff notes:
* If I fail to demonstrate my responsibility as laid out in this contract, I am no longer aloud to drive places other than work and school.
* If I fail do my chores, or my grades drop, then there is no yelling, just consequences.
* You will treat my car with respect as if it were belonging to an equal.
