My book is going to get published

I got a letter from a Publishing Company in New York today saying that they are interested in publishing my fiction (drama) manuscript. Attach to it is a contract that explains royalty and a bunch of other detail stuff I need to read carefully.

I am just pumped up right now. After all the publishers and literary agents that turned me down calling me a dreamer, idiot, poor writer and saying thing like not for me, finally I got something. I felt so down that I nearly give up.

Well I shouldn't get too excited. It hasn't happen yet but I'm just glad a publishing company is giving me a contract.

so what's the book about? any idea on when you can expect it to hit the shelves?

It hasn't happen yet but I'm just glad a publishing company is giving me a contract.

Very cool man. How long is the manuscript?

I have a few research publications (journals, conf proceedings). I currently have one out for review by a magazine (for my PhD work).

Well my fiction book ended up having 102,500 words. Normally they would want 80k and below. Mine turned out to be very long.

I'm not sure how journals work. Good luck on yours.

I'm not sure when it will hit the shelves. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of editing and finalizing. Once I submit my contract, they'll get to work on it. If it ever makes on the shelves you guys will be first to know.

That's true about never getting your book published. That's how it felt like for me 'til this. Just to let you guys know, I am not a good writer by any mean and I do suffer from poor grammar, but I do have a story to tell.

The book is based on my grandma who passed away in '02. It's an account of an elderly abuse she suffered from my uncle (a Vietnam Vet who suffers mentally from the lost of his limp) and how her hopes were destroyed. It's a pretty sad story that a lot of people can relate too, esp. when it comes to elderly abuse. People who read my manuscript came out crying and said I should try to have it publish.

I made a lot of changes and such just so I don't disrespect my grandma in anyway. That is why I called it fiction instead of a biography.

I posted there saying yes, because my grandma visited me two times within a week after she passed away. I told her I would do something for her and she would not have suffered for nothing.
