keep in mind that RSX Type S is supposed to be a flat 15 second car (high 14s low 15s)...
put nitrous on there. RSX will be standing still..

Drive or overdrive - doesn't matter. You can rev some (between 2000 - 3000RPM's) and tear a$$ outta there. Don't shift anything, these cars will shift themselves very well!! In fact, our cars preffer to do the shifting. If you shift manually with an auto, you'd better be absolutly perfect on time. 'cuz if your not and you shift, the car will shift when it sees fit. Hell, mine will even occasionally chirp shifting to second - in an auto! (2002 Firebird, stock 3.42's)

That's what I was saying man. Put it in drive. Put one foot on the brake and press down put the other on the gas and rev it till the car starts to really try and pull away. The light turns green take your foot off the brake slam the gas and go. That's why I was saying it would help tremendously when I get the high stall TC in the car.

yea not so much. stall it til it starts to move while holding down the brake. when the light turns green you want your foot as far down to the floor as you can get it WITHOUT having the tires break at all. you don't want them to spin.

don't just 'slam the gas and go'

Your advantage is going to be in your launch. He's front wheel drive and he is going to have weight transfer traction issues on his launch, unless he's running pumped airbags in the rear suspension. The first 20 ft are yours unless your tires break traction. You should be able to hold him off while running through the gears.

This race will depend all on his driving: with a good driver in the seat that car is faster than yours I'm sure, but it's not fast enough to make up for a bad driver. You said he's new to a stick, so I'd give you the edge. LEAVE IT IN "D" and FLOOR IT. Don't f-up the launch and you should be good to go. Don't try any of the manual shifting bull$****, please.

I know a lot about vehicles and understand them greatly but for some reason auto transmissions are beyond my realm of understanding so I have to think and speak in basic terms with it.
First, a torque converter is not a clutch: the power is transferred through fluid, different from a clutch.

Second, were you saying you wanted to do a cam? In order to take advantage of a cam you need a higher stall TC than stock for sure. I have a 3000 stall with a cam and it's really not stalled high enough for my taste now, I'll eventually be getting it re-stalled.

Sorry I will change that to state like a clutch, I was trying to associate one to the other. As I said in another post in this thread someone will correct me.

Yes in my laundry list of componets a cam among other supporting mods is there. A high stall TC and a cam go hand in hand, I'm well aware of that.
How streetable is your 3000 right now? I was thinking of going with a 3k but was worried about how streetable it would be.
