Here's the bottom line, at least to me: the 3800 is a great motor, but that doesn't mean it's indestructible. Think about how an internal combustion engine runs....it's a very violent series of motions...eventually motors wear out, some faster than others. **** happens, and generalizations are stupid. GM makes a motor just as well as Honda or Toyota, or anyone else. PERIOD.

so the night the engine got messed up.. i parked it on the side of the house.
never really got around to taking it to a shop to get it looked at because i'm broke as a joke. (17 year old with currently no job)
so i let it sit for nearly two months. everytime i would try and start it... the rpms would go crazy and the car would die. wasnt until a couple of days ago that i randomly went out to autozone and go a PCV VALVE HOSE for free. I changed that and the car started. I then did a oil change and refilled the radiator. engine started to sound normal again. i was surprised.. so then i decided to let it run for a bit so see if it would overheat. surprising it didnt and the fans actually turned on when at the temperture they were supposed to. so the night before valentines.. i decided to take it out for a little spin.. amazingly the car ran like normal with no more wierd sounds...
i then decided that i would take it to school the next day because i need a car to hold the ballons and chocolates for my valentine.. car ran good that morning and on the way back home.. i was happy. i dont plan on driving it that much anymore tho... till its completely fixed and running straight.
my mom insisted on buying a new low mileage engine and keeping it for herself... i told her no thanks.
I do plan on buying a 1989 Pontiac GTA and ive been obsessing about for weeks. im really close on getting it.. my mom said shell let me borrow the money needed to buy the car as soon as i get a job. i applied at albertsons acouple a days ago and taked to the manager. she said she'll call me saturday and that we'll go from there. so yea.. i hope i get it. i dont care about how fast it is... probably wont be any faster than my 3.8 but i just love the body and interior.. its in mint condition.. i plan on swapping my black z06 rims... leather ta seats.. borla exhaust, bilsteins revolvers if i get it!
