  • Someone explain this to me

So Friday morning about 2am a drunk driver plows his Dodge Ram in to my roommates truck, which then in turn smashes into the rear of my car (first time the car has been damaged in the 6 years I've had it). Anyway, what I can't understand is the damage it caused.

Here is the rear of my car:

    Scratched up a little

    and a busted taillight

Now HERE is my roommates truck:

(The part that hit my car)

It looks like he hit a freggin pole! His metal bumper vs. my plastic one and I win? How in the hell does that happen? Seriously, does anyone know what on my car could have caused that damage, because it's really confused the hell out of me.

Maybe he hit something else prior to striking your car.

Example; He comes out of the bar or his home intoxicated, begins to drive and hits a pole (or anything else), backs off of the pole, starts driving again and then a bit later drives down your srtreet.

the drunk wasn't driving the s-10, he was in a dodge.

I can agree that f-bods are tough, but that's still really wierd damage to be taken by the truck...

Wish I could have seen the Ram too. Mother f'er drove off (then passed out behind the wheel about a mile down the road according to the cops). Called the police this morning to see if the report was ready, lady on the other end said she had just gotten off the phone with the driver, he just got out of jail this morning (incident was thurs) so I'm glad he got to spend a few days in jail. Luckily the b@stard was insured so off i go to the body shop...

there is probably a bumper support behind your bumper that caused that. the bumper itself probably just flexed like hell

                        rubbermade!!

I would have to agree with blldogg, but when you take it to the shop make sure they figure in the cost of a new big peice of foam that goes behind the bumper (I think ours have that under the bumper cover), And check everything under the bumper for damage. You may have more than you realize under the plastic cover.

If you take off the bumper cover you will see what real damage was done to your car. Don't let them get buy with just painting the cover.

I hit a deer at 40mph. No damage at all, but the deer got launched into the air off my hood and it's face it my windshield. Poor thing got up and limped away...to bad I didn't have my gun to put it out of its misery :naughty:.
