  • Apocalypto

I saw the movie this weekend. All I can say is WOW!!

Very well made. Very detailed. The subtitles are not that bad either, very easy to read.

It's not that goury like some people have said. I've seen horror flicks that are 10x more goury than that and it's within the history of that early American culture.

The only thing that disappointed me was that the movie didn't go into detail about the Mayan Civilization, and it didn't seem all that great. It's more into Aztecs.

I heard when the main character jumped the water fall it was all real, no FX.

    I highly recommend this movie.

I agree about the gore part. I had heard it was one of the most violent movies in years, not even close.

I enjoyed it as well, definitely an interesting story.

That wasn't a puppet. That was a real black jaguar. Actually that's a very big jaguar. Jaguars are not that big but this is domesticated. It looks like a puppet because the jaguar is so black and clean.

I saw the making of this movie. That's why I said the jump in the fall was real. The fall is not that big though like they showed in the movie that's why the main actor did it.

yea there was a real jaguar and then there was a puppet u have to be almost retarded to not notice the difference. At the one part they showed the jaguar and it was SOOOOO fake it was retarded and in the very begining when they had the camera on the animal it self the arm of the animal was so fake. It was a low budget movie, i could have made it in my back yard

Well yeah, I see your point. They did use a puppet when the guy's face was getting bit off. The only thing that dissappointed me was that it didn't dive into the Mayan Culture. The first American culture that studied science, astronomy, and written words. This seems to be more of an isolated tribe.

No big actors so that makes it a low budget movie. I don't think you have pyramids in your backyard, plus you're going to be wearing a thong so forget about seeing your movie.

The Mayan descendents are pretty ticked off about that as well. But Mel seems to specialize in doing cartoons, that make somebody or other out as total savages. His usual victim is the British. Like in The Patriot where he had the British committing atrocities that were actually committed by the Nazis. I don't know if he thinks that's what people want or if he's working out anger problems. Judging from his behavior....

That's true. Mel does have a lot of suppressed anger. Probably has a lot to do with his father.

I guess you could say the same thing about his Movie Braveheart. But he didn't make portray everybody as monster, only the leaders. I guess we could say the same thing about Spielberg towards the German and the Roman Catholics with a couple of his movies. But he masked it as Nazism. But he is angry about how the Jews were treated by the Germans and how the Pope did nothing about it.

We Were Soldiers was a good movie too. I heard he will have a couple of movies coming out that's more drama base. This might be his last violent movie.
