Re: How slop 95-98 Mustangs are

Ya. I just went to the track this past weekend, and with a ****ty launch, I lost by 1 link to a GT. Not sure what year or anything, but I thought he was going to eat me up when I was staging. Pull up beside my dad afterwards and he says if I would have launched better, I would have easily taken it. And this was with a .75 reaction time and like a 2.5 60' :P

No they don't. I have '95 Car and Driver Camaro vs. Mustang and the LT1 ran 14.2 while the Stang ran 14.9.

Mid 90's Stang weigh just about the same as our V6 plus the torque takes us out of the equation.

This is more of a drivers' race. You can beat a V8 Stang sometimes but you can't beat them all the time.

Re: How slop 95-98 Mustangs are

One of my greatest races ever at the track...

non-pi Mustang at the track, had a nice exhaust, typical loud exhaust note, possibly headers/full exhaust maybe more mods..

I am sitting at the light just practicing a good race, figure I would get blown away by a decent;y modded v8. Light goes green, he goes, I wanting a good launch ignore the R/T.

Boom I take off I am at his bumper, pull to his door in 1st, pull by him in 2nd, then just lose him in 3rd. ran like a 14.6 don't remember but wasn't any Personal bests

I mean I have beaten a decent amount of non-pi 4.6s but usually out R/Ted them or just a nose, I just flat out beat this dude power to power.

        all with a free modded v6 :)

It was a dark time for mustangs...and all muscle cars.

haha im totally pulling this outt my *** :bs: ...but seriously they are fugly.

LOL I saw one at a Mustang car show... fully restored to its original glory, it was funny a few people were cracking jokes about it, it was hilarious. Car was in grea shape though.

As for non PI 4.6L, don't get too confident. Match to Match they have the advantage. They are not unbeatable, but still better matched then us, they have slightly more hp, but more torque.

whats a free modded v6 mean? i dont think minor small mods would get a 3.8 v6 14's at the track...but i havnt been to a track so what do i know?

They were racing from a pretty fast roll: a car length is a pretty solid win from what speed it looked like they were going.

              The mid-90s GTs don't run 16s. They're low-15, high-14 second cars.

yeah but the guy in the GT obviously jumped on him, 2 beeps? the 6 held the same position pretty much after that initial deficit

                  open TB
                  unhooked factory exhaust
                  !jack and spare
                  !MAF screen
                  !drivebelt

free mods, all I needed was a socket wrench and a 15mm socket wrench. And I bet you $100 you could run 14s with that ;)

It would have been even closer had the guy in the GT not jumped early.

                        yes I had exhast manifolds...

to be technical I unhooked it at the factory point. this is after the CAT, after the post Cat O2, after the S-pipe. Factory clamp, 15mm bolt. Right above that useless crossmember with the 4 1/2 in. bolts. at the start of the driveshaft.

I unhooked it moved it to the side but let it sit on top of the little crossmember.

BTW, I forgot, I needed a 1/2 socket as well to get that piece off to get to the 15mm bolt. And I used the same 15mm socket on the belt tensionor.

Well first, i cliped the clamps to my lid, then pulled the rubber boot off my TB, put my IAT sensor to the side, by wrapping around a line on my ABS unit.

then I used to mechanical pencils to get the snapwring out of the Maf screen, then I put the tips of the 2 pencils on in 2 holes on te outer edge, and rotated it clockwise whileing pulling it out, to get it out in one piece with no damage.

                            ;)

I did this alot at the track I have it down to a science :)
