I owned 2 Camaro's from 1988 until 1998. I had a 1985 V6 for 3 years and a 1990 V8 for 8 years. I miss them but now have a 3 year old son so I'm not sure whether to get another or not. The reason is the darn front airbags. If my wife is along we usually are in her SUV. When I go somewhere with my son I'm not sure I want the hassle of putting him in the back seat and getting him strapped in. He is still at the age where he has to be bucked in, not old enough to do it himself yet. Another factor against it is the view from the back seat isn't very good so he wouldn't have much to look at. Has anyone installed an airbag disable switch? Does anyone here regularly put their kids in the back seat of an f-body? I currently have a 1991 Nissan NX that doesn't have a front passenger airbag.

Im sure it wouldnt be hard at all. You can even make it look stock by placing it where the fog light switch is. Obviously if you do it disable the battery. Get a Camaro you wont be sry its better then those foreign cars just cause its american and its sexy lol

Well from my point of view I have always been in a camaro my whole life well besides my dads ranger. My mom had a 1986 Z28 and I was born in 1989 and rode in the back of that thing whenever we took it which was often because the ranger craped out all the time, so I was in the back seat for 11years till my dad moved out and my mom got a new 2000 camaro v6 (my car now) . The back isnt that bad till I was over 5'. I think your son will be just fine:) .

I dont think he wants to go thru the trouble of putting the fuse in everytime an adult gets in the car on the other hand how hard is it to pull the fuse and put it in, it takes like a min at the most and is there 2 seperate fuses for drivers air bag and passenger?

On most vehicles if you disconnect any part of the airbag system the entire system is disabled. Plus there can be liability issues by doing it in this way. With a switch designed for this purpose the liability is lessened since you can turn it back on easily and only the passenger airbag gets disabled. All 4th gens did come with passenger airbags.

My other vehicle is a 98 Jeep Wrangler. It has a bit more passenger space, but isn't much fun to drive with the top on. Top off is another story.

My sons both rode in the back until the older one got big enough for us not to worry about the airbag issue anymore. Now he rides up front (unless Mom is along).

Yeah, the view is not as good from the back, but they don't mind - they are riding in a cool car. They liked to be dropped off at school in the Firebird.

My little girl is 2 and she loves to ride in daddy's car. The view isn't all that good, but she has a smile on her face. Here she is...

it looks like she's dreading that seat reclining back into her face.

Like JohnD said, (no, the one from OH) he got rid of his Firebird when he had his kid & got a 2dr GP. SHouldn've gotten a 4dr (easier ingress/egress), but also, when they get around to being 7yrd old, they're big enough for the front seat.

w/all that gobbledegook typed... get a car that will best fit your needs for at least 6/7yrs. Then, when that early mid life crisis excuse sets in, get a comero.

She looks like you told her to smile before you took the picture and she's not quite complying. :)

I would have liked to ride in a cool car like a Camaro when I was a kid. The pain is yours, really, not theirs (strapping them in and such.) Legroom is the real killer, and kids don't need much.

LOL, yeah that was the third or forth picture and she was getting tired of it I think. Also, Mommy is in the passenger seat, so it's back a little more than I usually keep it.

FWIW, I've seen auto DVD players that hang on the back of the front seat. That would keep the little one in the back entertained...
