You need to shop around a long time when looking for a beater.

If you just buy the first POS u find for a good price of course its not gonna run long

My first beater i bought was a 90' Lebarron for $800 with 150k miles

I drove it 5 winters in total, 2 in HS and 3 in college, all i replaced was battery, starter and tires ~250 total for all that

This year I bought a 95 torass with 80k miles for $900, and this car is actually pretty damn nice

I search year round for my winter beaters, and I always seem to find a good deal and a car that lasts.

Even now though u can still pick up a cheap car for like 4-500 that will run at least to the end of winter, hopefully.

Most dealers with these old cars just want them out, so u usually can get away with paying 1/3 of what they list it at.

sucks your out a car though, hopefully ull find something to replace it

                      dodge colt = mitsubishi mirage...

what year is it? i bought a 1986 mirage about 10 years ago for $900 and it took me a year to beat that thing into the ground (broke the transmission). 0-60 in a blistering 12 seconds.
