that sucks so its 500 to fix a keyd car it would be cheaper to buy a door already painted and then you could screw around with your old door like shave the handle off it and sh*t

Maybe they were trying to spell GUM and they are a drop out from school. I've noticed the writing on bathroom walls in public restrooms, those idiots can't spell for crap. Or maybe you are right on thinking they were going for JDM.

Anyways, check out Duplicolor's website. They just put out this new line of paint repair things for small jobs such as this. I watched them use it and perform fixing some scratches in the paint with it the other day on "Two Guys Garage" I believe it was, looked simple enough and easy to use.

Touch up paint did work wonders on the one I had on the rear bumper, it seems to match up pretty well and I have som paint, however if you are hand washing it be careful because it seemed to wash right off...

yea i think they were tying to write JDM. either way that sucks. people are stupid. reminds me of the time someone spray painted a nice green stripe on the side of my car to be funny. i had to use paint thinner to get it off.

Notsonic, where in NJ did this happen?? I can't believe the **** that goes on anymore. I try not to let my cars outta my sight if possible. When I eat out, I usually sit near a window so that I can see the car. Last year though, at the high school I work at, someone removed 2 of the lugnuts off of a wheel on my Cavalier. If they'd have gotten the other 3 off, I could've lost a tire and possibly been in an accident.

It's going to be difficult to get that paint to match up well. You might get close, but if you are particular, you'll know it's there. If it's down to the primer, that whole scratch has to sanded down so that it is SMOOTHE. Then you will have to prime it with the same exact color primer as the rest of the car and then match and blend the color back.

The other way of doing it, is to fill the scratch with touch up paint, let it dry for a day, and then wetsand it so that it is smooth. You can also use rubbing compound, but it will take a bit longer. After that you'll have to use hand glaze to get the shine back (because it will be very dull from rubbing it out).

Both of these methods are easy fixes for now. I'd get some estimates on the repair work in the meantime.

Re: some mother****er keyed my camaro

If I were you I would go through the insurance to fix that. Vandalism is filed under the "comprehensive" section of insurance, and in most cases, there is a $0 deductable. On top of that, you are 0% at fault, if you give them a written or recorded statement (usually over the phone) saying you were no where near the car when it happened. This means no increase in your monthly rates. However, I'm sure it varies from company to company. Deductables usually apply in the collision area, which is where I had to file a claim. Someone hit my car in a parking lot, I wasn't even around, $1800 in damage, and I had to pay the first thousand because of my high deductable.

So basically, call the insurance company, discuss it over, and decide if you want to file a claim or not. If you do, I'm 99% sure you can take it to any body shop you want (even though your insurance company will recommend their sponsored shop), which would be a place where you can ensure quality work/paint matching.

Other than that, I'd retrace my steps and find the scum that did this. (Make him pay)

it happened (im assuming) in the woodbridge center parking lot by ****s/fortunoff.

thanks for the do it yourself suggestions but i barely trust myself to wax the thing. im going to a body shop tomorrow. the owner is the father of an old friend of my sister's and i do computer work for the shop. with luck it wont cost too much and itll be fixed tomorrow.
