    if there is room, you can change springs with the heads still on the car.

    one way to keep the valves from falling is to use an adaptor that pumps pressurized air into the cylinders, thru the spark plug hole. this is probably the preferred method.

    you could potentially rotate the engine til each piston is at TDC, then do that cylinder's springs too, though you might have to re-index everything if you go that route...
