  • The Birth of a Conspiracy Theory

I have run across this new conspiracy theory on the internet, and I was bored, so I thought that I would post this to see what everyone else thought. Please don’t bash me, like I said, I was bored and thought that it could make for some interesting discussion.

Notice the picture of Saddam on the left, with the good teeth, that was taken from the National Geographic Channel documentary last night, and the one on the right (the one that was “hanged”). You can see that the teeth are radically different and the noses are a bit different as well.

For anyone who has seen the camera phone video of the hanging, did you notice how the video does not actually show him hanged. You just see him with the noose on his neck, and then he drops through the trap door - then the video gets all crazy, and then you see him allegedly dead. The way he is acting and how the whole video plays out, does look suspicious. Now, if the video caught the whole thing, even the part where the rope runs out, and he has his neck snapped, then that would be very convincing.

Anyway, I don’t necessarily believe that the one on trial was one of his doubles, and that the real one died of cancer back 99’, and this is one of the ones that took over the job as a figure head, and they “convinced “ him to go along with the trial for his life’s sake, and sayyy…maybe $20,000,000.00 dollars and a new identity somewhere. I was just bored and thought that I would post this to see what everyone else thought, so please don’t bash me for posting it. It’s just something for discussion.

Truth IS stranger than fiction sometimes. You have to admit that Saddam, who was very concerned about his appearance, and had unlimited funds, would have the nicer looking teeth though:bs:

I started thinking about that right after it happened. All through his dictatorship he had a number of body doubles that would take his place in a number of events in case someone wanted to kill him. I'm sure it will soon become a real conspiracy theory, that they used a double and with muslim belief he was to be buried within 48? hours and no autopsy so there will be no way to prove its him. The basis for the argument could be that there was still valuable information to gather from him and now there would be no civil group to dissuade the means neccesary to obtain that info because he's supposdly dead. Personally I don't care but it will make for some intresting tv shows in a few years, like ufo's and area 51 and the JFK assination.

they are different pictures because the one on the left is from when he was a bit younger and hadn't been sitting in a cell going nuts in his own mind.

even so most of the facial features are diffrent. Unless the younger picture is one of his doubles?

I thought about that too, but if the one on the right is the real one, then the one on the left was a lot less afraid of the dentist :p

Also, you can see that the facial features ARE different, even though the one on the left is smiling and the one on the right is not-

Very true. Dental insurance must not been one the benefits offered in his regime.

i will admit the whole situation is a bit strange to me.....exactly how someone with a cell phone was able to record the whole thing, WITHOUT ANYONE KNOWING? seems a bit skeptical, Im not going to say it was all staged, but that suer seems strange to me.

One of them was actually hung by a Jew and the other one is pretending to be a Hollywood actor.

The guy who took the cell phone video is being held by authorities and they are questioning some of the other executioners. Apparently you can hear people in the video yelling at the executioners about not taping it and to not taunt Saddam. It was all over CNN yesterday.

Re: The Birth of a Conspiracy Theory

I'm going to stir it up some more.:stp: It seems rather convienent that he also "refused" to have his head covered during his execution. Everyone else did and it's standard practice that they do. Now in a conspiracy theory it would have made it too easy to say he wasn't dead if his head was covered and it was an obvious double acting dead, with a severe twist in the neck, afterwards. By him "refusing" to have his head covered you would think it makes it hard to dispute it's him but it seems to incite more suspiscion and curiosity as to whether or not it really was him. This is even more so because of the way the "accidental" camera in the room was bouncing around. But as I said I don't think there is a conspiracy but there is clearly enough superficial evidence to fan the flames and add suspicion.

Yeah I agree but it will make for a compelling show in a few years. I think most people, myself included in this case, overthink these things because there isn't enough resolution clearly presented so people substitute their own.

But why overthink it? Several large governments were involved with this. Do you really believe they would all allow it? Is there no such thing as forensics in Iraq?

Yeah I know it's a waste of time and energy. But to keep this thread going let's just say...Several large governments, to an extent, Saddam was handed over to the iraqis prior to his execution so there was no direct involvment from any other country and I'm sure there is still a lot of info other countries would like to obtain from him so to cover it up would be advantagous for a lot of people. There is foresics in Iraq but, and somebody correct me if I'm wrong here, with Muslim belief there is to be no autopsy and the body is to be buried within 48 hours of the death. I'm not trying to start any big debate and I really could care less. I just think it's intresting that if you do overthink it how easy it can be to start making "compelling" arguments to support it.
