warning: don't you even DARE to have two late payments on your GM rewards card. Had one from last march, and one more in june, and the fargin bastages just upped the apr to an ungodly 34%

that card will be payed of uber fast, and screw HSBC for their "tactics" on how they did it.

On a lighter note: Kudos to Coinstar & the Kroger that has it. Saving over 300 pennies in the empty pringles can pays off ;)

I got rid of that card ages ago. It wasn't worth it. The points don't add up and I was making some pretty big purchases like the blower, and other car parts...

You know I just saw a news report on that a couple of weeks or so ago. If I remember right, it's a federal law. They can do it if you are late on one payment. That is scary. Thanks for bringing it up, it's good info.

How does 5% add up any differently than it should? It's a pretty good amount if you use it for a few years.

I don't know when they started doing it, but Coinstar machines don't take the fee out if you take a giftcard instead of cash and you don't have to wait in line to get money. I know they have Starbucks and Amazon, and they just added Circuit City. There's quite a few others too.

Just about every credit card company runs the same scam. Best to do like me: pay them all off, cut them up and never buy on credit again! Live within your means - I know, it's a radical idea these days.

Its not that your idea isn't radical, its just not practical. You NEED credit these days, maybe not a CC, but some kind of credit. My woman has absolutely NO credit, living within her means, and she can't get an apartment, a new car, nothing. If you ever want a house or car or purchase real estate of any kind, you need established credit. Sure, you can go buy a $25,000 car cash, but THAT is radical.

Thing with credit is that it tests you. If you are a responsible person with your CC's and car payments, it can be rewarding the day you want to buy a house or start a business, but if you mess it up, like I have, you're screwed for a while. But there are always chances to reestablish credit, but its always a good idea to be responsible with it from the start.

You don't need credit, although it does help tremendously. I myself, don't have credit, because I was always the stupid one saying......pay cash, or it isn't worth buying. So that's how I've bought all my vehicles and my house..... I will get credit one day..
