its like this everywhere in europe for the most part.
if you are driving above 125 or so, you just put your left blinker on, and people will automatically move out of your way. otherwise you just flash your lights, and they move. its nice because no one tailgates, and for the most part people drive respectfully.
my dad used to have to drive about 150 miles each way to work, every day. he had a BMW 5 series to do it in. one day, i was driving with him, probably going about 120. we were passing some trucks, and all of a sudden, a cop pulls out from behind one of the trucks, and speeds up to get right behind us. he turned his lights on for a split second, and then pulled back over to the side of the road. basically just telling us that he did in fact see us, but that he didnt really care enough to pull us over.
