Maybe I'm missing something, but can't you get it fixed? I've have had bigger holes than that fixed. Even if you have to get a tube put in the tire, it would be cheaper than a new one - right

I would guess he drove on it too long probably due to the construction zone ruining the sidewall, thus the tire is shot.

There are two gashes in the sidewall, otherwise, yes, I'd repair it.

Same thing happened to my mom, but it was a master lock key. When we got it out, I tried it on all of our locks to see if it opened any of them. We just put a plug in her tire, and she was good to go. I've had some strange **** in my tires. I've had a bolt that was a good 4 inches long in there. I also had a peice of brass tubing stuck in. 1/4 in hollow tubing lets air out of a tire fast :P

ya oneday i barrowed my buddys car "kinda without asking" i drove about 30 miles down the road. then i felt the tire just turn to nothing. went to the nearest discount tire. he pulled a spark plug and half the wire out of my tire....

Nah, it was brass tubing, like used in kitchen plumbing and all. It was right by a new [insert word for a group of similar homes all built by the same people in the same area, with generally a fence around the whole area], so........

i used to work at a tire shop... you wouldn't believe the stuff that gets stuck in tires... i've seen everything from animal bones to razors to bits of plastic to pieces of wood. if it hits the tire in the right spot at the right angle....
