  • Engine Hoist

Well, I searched the forums for a specific answer, but no lbs. specification was said, just that they used a hoist(and possibly what brand it was).

I am needing to purchase an engine hoist and I was just wondering what lbs. capacity is good enough to use to get the engine and tranny out at the same time.

I was thinking about getting a 2 ton engine hoist. Will this weight limit be sufficient enough to hold it without much pressure being put on its stability?

2 tons is more than teh car weighs... i promise it'll be fine. just as long as you make sure its set up properly everything should go fine. just make sure you got the space you need to maneuver the legs.

Not sure about your car, but if I put everything back in my car it weighs in at a little over 2 tons. But yeah........I will be doing it by myself most likely so I need a hoist that will be able to handle sitting there for a little bit in case I have to resituate something or forgot to remove something in order to get it out.

So yeah, 2 ton will work just fine.

What do you have in your car that it weighs just over 2 tons? Stock weight is between 3300-3500 lbs.

I seriously doubt you are reading it properly. you do realize that the gross vehicle weight is not how much it weighs right?
