Re: Do you guys believe in Global Warming?

The research being done on the whole thing is kind of biased. Who funds the studies on the enviroment and global warming? The same people who already think we've destroyed our earth and pretty much hate mankind for existing. Kind of makes you wonder about the integrity of the studies...

Like what was already stated, ONE volcanic erruption has way more effect than anything humans have ever done. And these erruptions have been going on since before the dinosaurs. Thousands upon thousands of volcanic erruptions have occured and I'm supposed to believe the last century of cars and factories has caused some sort of drastic change?

The earth goes through cycles, getting hotter and colder. On top of that, it could just be some strange weather. It's happened before.

Re: Do you guys believe in Global Warming?

in a few years it will start gettin colder and eventually we will be wondering if it will ever warm up. Look at history with ice ages and such... its just a cycle but global warming may contribute to speed or amount of change.

Re: Do you guys believe in Global Warming?

You know when I went to Asia I saw a thick layer of rust color, cloud like smog. When we came down the mountain, it was hard to breathe, your boogers are black, there's black rings around my neck from sweating and when I spit the flem is brown.

Funny thing is, monsoon happen and it lasted for almost a month and all that junk in the air was gone and I could see the mountains again.

Well there's no arguing that we are doing some damage to our environment. Some of the plants and animals that are extinct because of us. Hopefully we'll keep improving the emissions of our cars, factory and such.

As far as global warming I'm stuck in between. I just learned that 108 years ago the temp. and climate from where I live was exactly the same. Yet I know at the same time we are putting tons and tons of pollution in the air.

whats funny is that in a few classes we talked about how recycling is helping out but then again it costs so much to recycle that in all actuallity we are not helping out at all. To get your recycled goods to factories, well you must drive it or send it with someone while your trash is being sent with the trashmen, y not send it all to dump and save the gas and pollution.

Not true. There's plenty of climate studies funded by the government (the military funds a lot, they're seriously concerned about the political fallout) and done with no axe to grind. The consensus on this one among _all_ climate scientists is overwhelming. 99+%. They're not all treehuggers, and I cited some who aren't.

This is flat wrong. Just propaganda (actually lies) by anti-global warming control people who do have very large economic and political axes to grind. Here's the actual DATA:

"Volcanic eruptions can enhance global warming by adding CO2 to the atmosphere. However, a far greater amount of CO2 is contributed to the atmosphere by human activities each year than by volcanic eruptions. Volcanoes contribute about 110 million tons/year, whereas other sources contribute about 10 billion tons/year. The small amount of global warming caused by eruption-generated greenhouse gases is offset by the far greater amount of global cooling caused by eruption-generated particles in the stratosphere (the haze effect). "

            http://www.geology.sdsu.edu/how_volc...e_effects.html

The total of _all_ volcanic eruptions is 1% of the human contributions of CO2. One eruption is very tiny.

This is not a drill. I'm probably gonna croak before it really hits. You probably won't. Your kids are in big trouble.

Re: Do you guys believe in Global Warming?

I believe it's a cycle, despite Algore. Also, what has been the sun's activity been doing the last few yrs?? It might have an impact on warmign the earth, but that's jsut a theory.

All them tree huggers *****ing & whining about the US polluting so much, why not take a gander over to china, where pretty mcuh all the things no longer legal to make in the US due to polltion/hazz waste are being made in abunance now, and distributed at competitive price through china's major dump/distibutor: walsmart.

              that is all.

side note: If china stops it's imports, walsmart will go belly up in about 48 hrs

What I can remember from school (slept through most of it) is that the earth doesn't rotate on a perfect axis, so it wobbles. Could it be that lately the northern hemisphere has "wobbled" closer to the sun, for now? Or is the wobble cycle many times throughout the year? I dunno, I'm getting sleepy now...zzzzzz

bulls eye the earth doesnt rotate on a perfect axis(so a different point is allways pointing at the sun) and the orbit is contantly changing it all a big cycle i have no dout that where speeding it up but all in all its just natures cycle

I believe someone pointed out that studies are all biased toward those who think man is destroying the Earth. It should be pointed out that groups funded by oil companies also do this kind of research and studies. My point is that research results CAN be biased EITHER WAY. I'm sure not all studies are biased, but you have to always consider the source.
