  • I wish I bought a Z

I just passed the $1,000 mark on engine parts for my 3.8, and most likely still wouldn't beat a LT1  ...

I'm pretty sure i got the sex part...haha

I'm getting my Cold Fusion Dry Nitrous kit this weekend (475)
            K&N CAI (75)
            Pacesetter headers (233)
            Flowmaster 80 series (100)
            MSD Coilpacks (125)
            Then I bought a drop-in K&N b4 the CAI...wasting $40
And I'm going to buy some NGK TR6's...so that's like $18

and that's just performance parts...i bought tune-up stuff, ps pump, h20 pump, C5 rims, Subwoofers, amp, cd player...I HATE CARS!!!! They're a serious addiction

            I don't think I could keep up with a 285hp LT1 tho

$1000 isn't the price difference between a V6 and V8. Why would you expect to be able to beat V8s for $1000 in mods? Your expectations are too high.

Looks like you'll be fine with those mods. The nitrous should do the job.

That $1000 is just in performance...I have probably another $1000 in appearance/sound stuff (but I would have done that to a Z too)

I have 3.42's, LSD, 18x9.5 rears w/ Z-rated tires and 4-wheel discs...After the nitrous is done, I'm looking into upgraded shocks/springs and a strut tower brace...

how much rwhp does a stock lt1 have? (3.8-200hp=160-180rwhp where 5.7-285hp=???)

No way a stock 3.8 is throwing down 180 rwhp, thats only a 10% drivetrain loss.

                              Stock LT1 285. So (285)(.15)= 42.75 So, 285 - 42.75 = 242.25
