  • whats with this guy?

this guy with a 1.6l honda civic hatch said the following to me bout his car:

accusly its 160 hp stock and my exost will bump it up about 10
and yes accualy the weight does mater quit a bit
well ne ways lets look at facts u have 200 hp and 225 ft lb of torque at 4000 rpm peaks at 5200 rpm and 9:3 compression on a automatic 4 speed transmition can u say parisitic loss out the ***
me 160 hp @7600 rpm 111 ft lb of torque @ 7000 rpm and revs to 8200 rpms and my car only weighs about 1800 lbs and has 10:4:1 compression on a 5 speed standerd transaxel

comments? cuz he wants to race me

1.6 and 160hp would be a B16. An exhaust may give him about 4-6 more hp not 10. Those engines are fantastic with high revs but not so good off the line. I would give it a shot he should be running mid to low 15's.
Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.

I think you should def try. It will come down to the drivers most likely. If he's talking that much trash it could be really satisfying to beat him.

he would never take you off the line.

those numbers are terrible for such high revs. 111tq :<

                        plus its fwd.

the only thing he has over you is less weight.

and since its a manual theres more room for him to mess up.

also gm autos are typically much better than other manufacturers'. just because its an auto doesnt make it (significantly) slower.

and at the end of the day even if he won, who cares. your car is better in every other department. (namely looks)

if/when you do race, do some quick weight reudctions. take out your rear seats, spare tire/jack, any crap lyin around, etc.

That weight sounds suspect to me. Our Spec Miata racecar (http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread.php?t=71852) weighs just less than 2200 lbs and is completely stripped. The lowest weight I saw of any Civic on edmunds.com was 2500 lbs. He's gotta do some major work to get that car down to 1800 lbs.

My Camaro's a bone stock 3.4L and every ricer I've raced gets smoked off the line, the Camaro's torque is just too much. Talking about his compression ratios is great, but he'll need a lot to catch up if you open up several lengths on the start.

I say kick the tires and light fires and go kill yourself a ricer...
