  • how much should i offer

    ok so im looking into buying an 84 firebird v6. it was in a wreck need new bummer and a side finder. b4 the wreck he had a new tranny and rear end put in . theres 160k. how long do these motors last. is it worth buying and fixing.

    they can be fixed for pretty cheap compared to a 4th gen. i dont know if id buy it unless the price is dirt cheap, then drop a lt1 in there.

      i think i could it for like 900 is that good? how much would i cost to drop an lt1 in it?

        those old v6 f-bodies aren't that all that expensive...I'd offer $500-700 depending on the condition (paint, engine, interior) It has the 2.8L V6 btw so it wouldn't ever be a good performance car

          not sure on the cost, should be too bad. local guy has a buddy who dropped a lt1 into his 89 maro and ran like 13.2 @ 104ish totally stock.

              I'm sure there is much more than just a motor. I agree that 700 should be the max if it is in good shape. check for rust!!!

                yeah.. a few hundred tops...

                I vote for carbed 350 swap... cheaper than lt1

                    I paid $500 for my old '87 2.8, it was in "fair" shape. If that one needs a good deal of work I wouldn't pay too much for it.

                      i dont quit understand i thot swapping from a v6 to a v8 is worth it . i thot u had to have a new tranny, new rear end, spring shocks all that good stuff

                        $500 tops...

                        The 2.8 has no power at all, and the conversion to a V8 is quite expensive. You need lots of parts besides just the engine and trans.
