your right...there was no I6 in 3rd gens, but in 2nd Gen I think the 250? I6 was used

off subject i saw a big *** chevelle sedan, with that tiny little 100hp I6...that had to be the slowest car ever

2.5 Iron Duke. Used in the 80's on Fbodies and Fiero. Gm's strongest 4 cylinder engine. Ofcourse by today's standards it is no longer potent.

Mustang had a 4 cylinder engine too. I think back then Stangs only had 4 and V8 as an option. I don't think V6 was around. F-bodies had 2.5, 2.8, 5.0, and 5.7 as engine option.

My wife's uncle still has his 4 cylinder Stang. He keeps it in mint condition. At one time I asked him to pop the hood because I wanted to see the 5.0 but I was so surprise to see a 4 cyl.

That is one that I have never heard of. My father owned a car lot years back and I had the following cars for a period of time:

                  82 T/A V8 (T-tops & Knight Rider Wheels)
                  82 Berlinetta V6
                  82 Firebird V6
84 Berlinetta V6 (the year with the huge swivel radio)
                  84 Firebird V6
                  84 T/A V8 (T-tops)
                  as well as:
77 T/A (the real deal, but the formula was faster)
                  77 Formula (super fast)
                  79 T/A
                  79 Firebird 301 V8 (slow as sh_t)

I have never seen a Straight 6 in an F-body from 82 to 92. My father avoided buying the I-4 cars, that engine could not even get out of its own way. Are you sure it came from the factory with an I-6?

That's what I thought too but Blueangel seems to think otherwise.

They did 4s in 3rd gens, I think they had one in late 2nd gens also right at like the last year or two... I might be wrong.
