  • V6 vs. V8

So, I just bought my cousins 93 V6 Automatic Camaro, and nobody seems to like it. All i can get is "IS IT A V8?!?" "IS IT MANUAL!?!?!" and its starting to bug me. haha. Is the V8 really THAT much better that a V6 Camaro isn't even cool at all. I know manuals can have the upper edge, and can be fun but, its not just for me. But now I am determined to build the best V6 engine around, so I can shut these fools up. haha. So really, I need some comebacks... Anyone got any?

haha...i had the same problem. I got a lot of 'just don't even try and build that V6' funny thing is it was bunch of guys that had mid-80's 305's and 350's that came with less stock hp than my 3.8

anyways, just enjoy the car for what it is unless you like spending $$$

Do what you want with the car, whatever will make you happy. Don't worry about others, it's a hobby, not your life. Tell V8 guys good for them, if they can't appreciate the fact its a hobby and to have fun with it they are lost and its their problem.

think of it this way: how many peeps sink $$$$$ in to vee-ates jsut to have it brake or have to constantly upgrade them to make them faster?

Although a local comero driver by the s/n of gilbot gave me a wonderful idea for when I get my own place & get a roller to work with......

yea man like he said it's a hobby...where im from evryones gotta LT or LS1, and ive gotta v6. but i get a lil' respect for what all i do to mine and how much i'm commited to workin on this car. i do more work to my v6 than they do to their v8s n alot of them realize that. yea, the extra speeds nice to have but i have fun buildin around what everyone else has..U can make a LT or LS motor bad but how many can say theyve gotta bad v6? i have fun with mine and thats wat matters.

LOL, I got the same **** when I got my Camaro. As soon as my cousin and his buddy came over to see it, the first thing they asked was "Is it a v8?", second, "Is it a stick?". ROFL. What is it with people and sticks?

                          Re: V6 vs. V8

I had a 97 3.8 that i had done a fair amount of work too. Cold air, Pacesetters and full 3" exhaust, LS1 rear end, LS1 brakes, Aluminum driveshaft, and some other goodies. Recently sold that and picked up a 93 Z28. It is a night and day difference between it and the 3.8, but its the same amount of fun to work on. I loved working on my V6 just as much as i enjoy wrenching on the V8. The only difference is the time slip at the track.
