I GOT IN! The school of my dreams just said you're in! I'm going to FIT next year (if I can come up with the $26,000 per semester tuition)!!!! I'm about to send off an application to FAU as well as a back up in case I can't afford FIT. If I go to FAU, I'm gonna have around $5-6K (maybe more) left over from my college fund for w/e I want, so that's kinda holding me back too :P . FIT is one of the tops schools in the state, so that's really exciting to get in there. Plus, with it being in Melbourne, I can still live with my parents. If I can't afford it, I'll probably finish up my AA at the community college (need 30ish more credits, already have 35ish), and then transfer to FAU to get my degree. I'm hoping to major in computer engineering, but I may switch over to mechanical engineering if I like it better.

BTW- FIT = Florida Institute of Technology (referred to as Florida Tech) and FAU = Florida Atlantic University

Congrats. I'm looking at starting the mech engineering myself. Nothing more stimulating than calc 3 and differential equations huh?

          that tuition is sick!

living at home with the parents is nice on the wallet, but trust me you will find that you miss a lot of the whole college experience.

calc 3 is easy... its just calc 1 and 2 in 3 dimensions. Calc 2 and diff eq are the two hard ones. that tuition is rediclous tho. i go to kettering u (formerly general motors institute) and i thought the 15-16 a semester was bad...

Seriously, congrats dude. Spend the money, go in debt, and get the education of your dreams. For most people, it's worth it.

                    Re: Guess What

Well, that's what my parents were telling me, so.....I'm still not too sure if I'm going to FAU or FIT. Like I said, FAU will be alot easier on the wallet, but I'll have to move out (looking forward to it. my friend and I are looking at getting an apartment in June if we can afford it). The tuition at FAU ranges from 2,600 to 13,100. But, since it's a public school, unlike FIT, I've got a scholarship that pays for 75% of it. So, the most it would cost me is $3275. This is also a very good school, and they're one of the top for their engineering department. I've already got a few other scholarships signed up for, not sure if I've got them or not though, so FAU may even be fully paid already :D . Plus, I've got some set aside for college, and if I go with FAU, I'll have quite abit left from that for either a down payment on a new car, some mods for my current car (most likely), or put it towards a loan for a house. I've been told that FIT will work with you as far as financial aid comes. They said, as long as you want to go to their school, they'll find you a way to pay for it. I've got to see what all they come up with financial assistance wise, and go from there. Only thing I don't like about FAU is that it would require me moving further south, away from family and friends. I'm sure I'll make new friends though, so.......

And ya, calc 3 is kinda worrying me. I'm taking Calc 1 at my HS, and am going through it like a breeze, but my teacher keeps saying, it's gonna get harder and you're gonna need to actually do your homework. I don't know if I can handle that

I'm not dreading it but my problem is I suck on tests. So as a result I have to start at the bottom and work my way up. All my elective credits will be taken up with prep math classes. I'll get it eventually just getting a late start being that I'm 26, I think I may have finally have something figured out as far as direction.
