    here's where the camaro stands......

    http://s105.photobucket.com/albums/m...t=MOV00794.flv

there wasn't enough fuel pressure at first. dan pulled the fuel pump and fixed it and now there is PLENTY of fuel coming out of the rail when releasing pressure..... nology wires were replaced with reg duralast for now from autozone.

could we be missing a ground somewhere that won't let it start?

    edit:

it's gotta be partially firing because i was able to see the cold side of the turbo spinning which only means exhaust.......

      Re: still not starting!

these are common reasons why engines dont start:
      1 fuel tank empty
      2 battery dead (nope)
3 battery connections loose or corroded
4 fuel not reaching fuel injectors . clogged fuel filter? bad pump?
      5 bad coil/icm/pcm
      6 low cylinder compression
      7 water in fuel
      8 dirty or clogged injectors
9 wet or damaged ignition components
10 worn faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs
11 Broken, loose or disconnected wires at the ignition circuit
12 broken, loose or disconnected ignition coil or bad coil
13 timing chain failure or wear affecting valve timing

When my piston rings went bad, I only had like 80psi - 90psi compression and it wouldnt start. idk

        Re: still not starting!

it's either fuel or timing. And we are pretty sure the timing isn't the problem. I'll have to dig up some pics and hopefully i got a shot of the block before it was put in. i remember we even pulled the front cover off to check and make sure the timing was good. 3 of us saw it and said ok.

The fuel has been in that car for about 4 months now. So that could have something to do with it, but i dont see it preventing it from starting. i guess dan can chime in. enough work for tonight.

I didnt have problems with fuel sitting in my tank that long.

have you guys thought about maybe checking the rocker arms to make sure they arent too tight? from the sounds of the video its doing the same thing the trans am did the first time i tore the top end down, it would keep trying to turn over but never did. turned out to be the rockers were too tight, which led to push rod bendage... like mine sounded exactly like that. just wanted to throw that out there as a possibility.

current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it

check the compression of the motor this will check for any leaks and such as valves not closing

                      Re: still not starting!

One thing's for sure, I wouldn't keep cranking an engine like that too much longer. If it doesn't start within the first 2-3 seconds, then I'd stop turning the key. You can do a whole-lotta damage to the piston rings because oil isn't getting up to them when cranking.

well I talked to my uncle who is a mechanic and he seems to think the timing got off by 180*, he said its very common to happen in small block chevy motors.....he also said he was 100% positive.

thats a sh1tload of degrees. How did the timing get off?
You dont need to order a compression tester...theyre $20 max at wal-mart
and $10 max at harbour frieght
