I've been gone for a while but I thought that I would come back for one last post. I traded my 95 3.4 in for a 2006 Cobalt LT. It's nothing really special yet, but with HP Tuners unlocking the PCM i'll hopefully have a turbo under the hood as soon as my warrantee is about to run out. I did a stock dyno to see where I stand, and it put down a respectable (for a 2.2 Ecotec) 135 whp, and 139.5 wtq.
Thanks to anyone who answered my questions when I frequented the boards, and let me know what you all think.



and a little eye-candy, my girlfriend with the Cobalt... She doesn't like it as well as the Camaro though lol.

how much did you get for the trade in on the 3.4? I'm considering getting a new car after I graduate from University in June and I have a 1994 3.4L so I'd be interested to see what kind of cash a dealership would give towards a new car.

i briefly thought about one of the SS's but i dont have a steady enough income to afford one

Well I would have liked to have bought an SS, but I have 8 points on my liscence and just went on my own policy... so insurance ruled that out. Plus I have a friend that runs a speed shop and he will be getting a few GT28 Turbos in soon, so I can get one of those for a great price (about $200-$250!!). I love the sound and performance of turbos, and with a good ball-bearing turbo there will be very little lag.

The Balt will honestly run circles around the 3.4, in stock form anyway, largly due to the restrictive top end. The Cobalt pulls hard (once again for a 2.2) up to 6200 rpms. My best time with the Camaro was a 16.4 (shift kit, filter, exhaust, thermostat), compared to 15.9 with the Balt(all stock). A friend of mine has a 3.4 5 speed Firebird and we raced from a 40 roll and ran dead even to 75 then I started to pull HARD way from him.

When I traded it in I only got $1000 for it, but it had a big spot of primer on the passenger quarter panel. If you want to buy a new car, sell this one outright. The dealership painted the side and sold it for $3900... I was pissed lol.

I don't think I'll part with it. I paid only $3000 Cdn. and I've heard too many horror stories from my father's friends who had Camaros, Chargers, Mustangs in the 60s and 70s that are kicking themselves today for having sold them years ago when they would have been worth tons today.

i dont know how much a 6 cyl will be worth in the future... id say that the 8's will hold the resale value much better

I had an 05 cobalt, setup for a turbo, had the internals, exhaust, and some purty things on the outside, I miss it some times but I had soooo many problems with the car itself, not the engine. The ecotecs are amazing, good luck with. Say hello to those at www.cobaltss.net

eh the times are changing, the 6cyl aint what it used to be. and anyways, lots of old classics dont have the stock engine anyways, lots are clones

hp wise you didn't take much of a hit. I think the 3.4s diyno at around 120-130. nice looking car.
