I discover music when I do listen to it. I can understand not getting why I have it if I don't listen to it. I can say why and I can see all of the counter arguments to it so ill just say this. People have hobbies and some people collect stuff. It could be stamps, could be coins, could be anything. I collect music.
I think the most music I have ever had was 4 gigs worth, but I know the music I listen to, I can put my iPod on shuffle, and I won't skip thru any of it, and listen to it with all my attention. 6k songs is too much, I don't know 6k in songs, let alone 73k. How could anyone listen to 73k songs? That has to be a close to a terabyte of music.

I feel like a loser.. I've only got 9821 tracks. 34 days, 13 hrs, 37 mins, 28 secs. 51.59GB. Oh.. I forgot my videos, movies, tv shows... those are sucked in from the Tivo :D
And all I use is a simple iPod mini.. sad ;)

I got your loser right here. I got a 60gb video Ipod and it's about 1/10 full. 1610 songs and 2 movies. What genre do you all listen to? I've been meaning to search some more. Give me some guidance music gods. I've been looking for some good indie rock any suggestions?
Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.
I listen to EVERYTHING, which prob explains my 6000 songs. Thats rock, rap, pop, classical, country, classic rock, old country, oldies, rave/techo/trance, Christmas, Punk, etc. etc. etc.
Like you Mogobs, I only keep what I like, so I know all 6000. I just listen to the genre I feel like hearing that day. Or I just hit total random and get it all.
youngsc- I honestly will take a few hours once in a while and just randomly float around the ITMS. I find more rare fun stuff like that than anything. It doesn't hurt that I work within a team that has 4 DJ's, so we all get exposed to other stuff. If you thing is indie, emusic might be the best place for you.
