Dont waste your time calling State Farm, Allstate, and there is one more but I forgot, but anyways they dont insure most street bikes anymore (they do some naked bikes). Progressive and Geico insure pretty much 90% of the bike on the road now adays.

Anyways, Im 22 and own two bikes. A 1976 Harley and 2005 Hayabusa. Clean record. Here are the rates for both to give you an idea. Just remember the busa is a 1300 so its more expensive than any 600.

          Harley:
          Full- $150 every 6 months
          Liability- $43 every 6 months

          Busa:
          Full- $320 every month
          Liability- $77 every month

                Re: Motorcycle Insurence

i called lots of places, they wanted 7k a year to insure me on a 1kCC sport bike.

i was also 22, with a bad driving record

anything over 750cc is called a superbike, $$$$$

only $240/year for liability only for me, full coverage is about $2500 depending on your age, marital status, and driving record.

When I was 23, full coverage on my 03 R6 was 330 per month in Chicago. Dropped to $75 when I moved to WI and turned 25.

Bought my 2004 R6 new at 21, or 22. 13 dollars a month just liability.

Im 24 now and that hasn't changed.

It was like 25 times that if I did full coverage.

Ok.. let me just say "your nuts!!". I still fully cover my heep.. I mean Jeep... and fully cover the Yammie. I've also upped the personal coverage for me while I'm on the bike. Insurance is cheap in comparison to lawsuits or medical bills.

Well Im covered medical wise. And as far as a lawsuit goes, I don't have the bare minimum liability coverage in an effort to avoid that. I have to look at my policy again, its been a while. Admitedly I don't remember much about the policy, but I did my research when I first got it. I do remember being comfortable with the coverage I chose. The fact my bike damages aren't covered is not a huge deal at all. I added up the money I saved by not having full coverage and I can pretty much purchase a new bike flat out. I put it all in the bank too so it's there if I need it.

But now you have me worried, and I have to go back and re-read the policy, lol.

Ins. is there to transfer risk away from you. If your comfortable with the coverage and can pay cash for a new bike should something happen, cool. I'm right there with you. I keep a higher deduct on mine should something happen. But I'm also old and keep both wheels on the ground :p
