 I agree  ...but it's the world we live in nowadays. I'm sorry if it offends anyone too, but I STILL think you should speak english if you're going to get a driver's license here in the states. But, I guess I'm wrong.

NY state gives license exams in Spanish.

While there's no federal law that says English is the official language, but most states have laws that say English is the official language...at least, Virginia does
§7.1-42. English designated the official language of the Commonwealth.

English shall be designated as the official language of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Except as provided by law, no state agency or local government shall be required to provide and no state agency or local government shall be prohibited from providing any documents, information, literature or other written materials in any language other than English.

California does too. Although its a joke really cuz everything around here is done in spanish and chinese. Infact....

When i took my citizenship test they tested my english (me... who is from england). Ironically the guy testing me was Vietnamese and spoke.... less than perfect english.. i couldn't help feeling that it should of been the other way round. Then at the graduation ceremony they did the welcome speach in 5 different languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog.

Seems kind of pointless in Northern Va. Everything is in spainish up here. I went into a gas station down the street to grab some gatorade and all the bottles were entirely in spainish. Same deal at target. The magazine racks by the registers had all spainish magazines.

Back on topic... I had to drop a calc class in college because I couldn't understand the teacher. Try getting help from someone else in class or seeing the teacher in office hours.

as for the thread starter & original thread topic, if you are having problems understanding your instructor, and you are paying for an education you are getting less than satisfactory education you should go make an appointment to speak with the director of education at your school, or whatever their title may be.

I think it's bull****, I wear my "speak english or get the fcuk out" shirt with pride.

it sucks...I dropped the same class last semester just because of the instructor...then i got the same dude this semester. Now I have to go to office hours after every class, and pretty much take the class over again each lesson b/c I swear to god he's not speaking english.

I'm trying to get switched out of the section and into a different section w/ a different instructor...i'll see how that goes

Well, both of those are just instances of private businesses just changing to fit the demographic of their customers and generate more sales...the government didn't come down and say they had to have stuff in spanish
