I have a calculus class in 10 minutes with a former soviet. His name is Josivech, pronounced Yo-se-vish His english isn't bad, it just has very hard russian in it. Last semester i had a teacher from somewhere in the middle east, he was brilliant and spoke english very well. He actually has made some discoveries in the field of cosmology (the Nashoom Effect)

my instructor is middle-eastern...and his accent is crazy thick...its more like half english/half (whatever middle eastern language he speaks)

When i was at college there was an Indian professor who tought the advanced calc/algebra/whateveritwas before my chem class. I always felt sorry for the students in that class.. i swear he was just straight up speaking hindi.

I'm guessing you're not Native American? I'm not either, but maybe they would say the same thing about people speaking English.

i work at lowes and we just had the whole store done over....all of the signs now have spanish underneath the english....i think its stupid...if 1 of us moved to a foreign country we would b expected to learn the language...but here its ok to have to point to everythin that people want...i hate it

They do actually, most Asian countries, Europe, Russia; these are the countries I've been too. Even their street signs have English underneath them. Restaurants with their menus and so on.

I do agree though that if people are going to live in America for good, they should learn English.

My wife, Mexican origin, her uncles and aunts who have been here for 30 years can't speak English or carry a conversation in English. It's terrible!! Every time there's get together they want me to speak Spanish to them. I will if you speak English to me. Ofcourse I didn't say that. My wife will kick my hinnie if I did.

They ofcourse live in L.A. the second largest Hispanic population, Mexico City is number 1. I guess with so many Hispanics who needs to speak English or learn it.

Atleast my wife teaches ESL every Tuesday night at our church.

The culture that strives so hard to provide for their families that they risk their own well being to travel to a foreign country to work long hours for low wages, or the culture that pays more attention to the social lives of Brittney Spears and Lindsey Lohan, than to the real social problems that exist in this country?

Good point!! The Brittney Spears and Lindsey Lohan genre are totally useless in this country.

You know I think China is hiring Americans to go and teach their citizens English. Pays well and you don't even need to know Chinese that much because they like to try out their English on you.
