Yep, I hear stories from my brother and the main thing he emphasizes is never to remain idle anywhere, wether on foot or in a vehicle. I wouldn't hesistate to push anyone out of my way if I was over there. Ambushes are way to easy in confined close quarters combat.
Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.
I think it's easy to debate something when nothing happened.
Can't agree more. If this was a different kind of video, I'd understand it more and it's purpose. I just think this deplicts our MIL poorly when seen by the public.
For those that are just reading me from a screen and have never meet me in person.. let me explain myself a bit. Just to get an understanding.
* I'm NOT against our MIL or them having the best available to them
* I'm NOT one that likes street racing or "stupid" videos of peole putting themselves in harms way or making it look that way, even with a good outcome.
* I'm the guy that Tivo's EVERY show about MIL weapons, vehicles, transports, plane, boat, sub, etc. I like that stuff, and enjoy knowing the technical aspects of what our troops use.
* I'm not about the political aspect of this stuff. We're there, now we have to worry about keeping them (troops) save and bring them home.
* I would love to sit down and discuss this over coffee with any member to get a different point of view. I'm open to learning different perspectives.
Hope that gives some better idea that I'm not picking a battle here... just an opinion.
PS.. I still think they need to have a better horn :D

Corrected to include the right liquid. And hell yeah I agree with 99% of what your saying. I was going into the military myself but my damned knee decided it didn't like the training and quit. I would rather be over there doing something useful and productive with my life then sitting behind a desk where the worst I can get is a papercut.

I can't say that, at my age, I would be excited about the prospects of going over there. When I was younger, I went to the recuiter... did their test. They wanted to put my butt on a nuke sub! Then I thought about it... I don't have the politically correctness in life to be MIL. It takes some very patient and calm people to be like that... I am not one of them. If it was to come here and we all had to pick up arms... you bet I'd be on that one. 2nd amendment
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
Oh.. and beer tastes like piss... Whiskey is fine.. if you got some moonshine, I'll even drink that ;)

I have a friends brother that just left today to go back to Baghdad, driving a HMMWVV. Tell me that thats the way you pretty much have to drive there, there is no getting around it. Stop for a second, and you may be a target to an IED or RPG. So he was told in the beginning, no stopping, regardless what you may think or feel, no stopping.

That's what drill sargents are for. I was nowhere near and still am not PC, I don't like too much authority and I don't have that much patience for incompetence. I'll tell you what I figured out that first day off the bus, my viewpoints and decisions can easily be changed with the right verbal persuasion and the correct amount of physical fitness. When you put that uniform on the first time your attitude changes a lot. I still am not PC but I still carry the majority of the disciplines and lessons with me 6 years later. I think it's good for anyone but that's another thread and I aint starting it.

Why can't you let the horn go? LOL. Even the M996/M997 series of Ambulances don't have any kind of siren or anything. The horn is just to make it street legal. If you want a big horn check out a HEMTT.
