  • DEX-Cool Litigation

I received a letter today about a class action against GM. It say

" TO: ALL PERSONS WHO PURCHASED OR LEASED A GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION VEHICAL IN MISSOURI ON OR BEFORE JANUARY 9, 2006, THAT WAS FACTORY EQUIPPED WITH DEX-COOL."

It goes on to say that Dex-Cool is incompatible with some lower intake gaskets and causes mud type substance "sludge".

I know that it causes sludge but I didn't know about any gasket problems.

I am glad to see some one is starting to do something about Dex-Cool. Just thought I would let everyone know.

Hopefully, GM learned their lesson and they won't put that crap in the new Camaro's...
If they do, that will be one of the first things I change and probably with a week of owning the car. I just hope it won't void the warranty.

is it the same coolant thats been in there since new? I doubt it.. and I really hope not. I say go with the green stuff (you can get the green stuff that is Compatible with Dex-cool from Walmart)

Why would changing the type of coolant void the warranty?

agreed, but I like the peace of mind knowing that IF I didnt flush out all the dex-crap, then maybe it wont sludge up as bad and leave rusty deposits

You know I've seen the inside of my water jackets after 32k miles
dex-crap was in there for probably 2 years :spank:
                      and yes, it was rusty-powdery
