We get a lot of Apple customers at the hotel, so i got an Ipod Shuffle for christmas and i use that. I'm never away from either my car or computer long enough for me to justify buying anything else.

Ya'll ready for this.....I don't have an MP3 player :D . Believe it or not, I borrow my mom's :P . My bro has a Creative Zen V-Plus, and that thing is pretty kewl. It's 1 gig (500 some odd songs), and does have video capabilities (haven't played one yet, and am not sure how long it can hold being only 1 G). My mom has a Samsung YJ-87 or something like that. It's only 1G too. It seems pointless IMo to have more than that. I've already got too many songs on it, and it's 1/2 filled :P
So, to everyone that has posted, does your player allow you to set up your own file/folder structure rather then its own auto sort per ID3 tags?
Anyone see/have a Kenwood Music Keg? That was worth every penny for the years I've had it. Controlled by my Kenwood deck, it was a 10 gig HD for your Mp3's and WMA's. Unfortunatley I can't put it in my new car because the climate control and the stereo is one unit :-/... so here I am, looking at portable players to make up for it.
The whole idea is to have my entire music collection available to play in my car. I get tired of hearin the same sh*t over and over and over. It's nice to have the variety there at your fingertips, especially when I travel alot and have a long commute.
Heh, funny you mention that. I actually looked into it, considering the ridiculous money you pay for some of these other MP3 players, I figured might as well get one that plays games too right? I was turned off at the fact you can only store sh*t on it with premium priced Sony Memory sticks. For the cost of an 8 gig memory stick, I can buy a 30 gig Zune.

Well you can buy the non oem memory sticks ........... but it's too bulky to be considered a portable mp3 player............i have one and i use it mostly for gaming ..........gaming/graphics wise , it's awesome machine ..........but i think ipod video is the sh*t ........ you should get that.........
Agreed, replacing the battery and hard drive in mine as soon as I get the money to do so. Batteries are easy and cheap to come by, but hard drives aren't. Should have never gotten an iPod, I suggest Creative's Zen. I loved my iPod when i worked, great piece, but too many issues with it, now it needs a new hard drive.

Iriver H320 20gig - This is an older model that i have had for about 2 years now. It supports certain video files and pictures. Does not use tags, I have all my music seperated into folder that i drag and click onto the mp3 player, which acts like an external hardrive all the time. No need for anything but windows to access it
My only complaint is the shuffle mode tends to play in the same order and get rather annoying.

Interesting... Tell me more... :p
The shuffle function. Is there an option to just shuffle a specific folder and/or shuffle the entire collection?
How's your battery life? You've had it for 2 years now, is it showing signs of getting weaker? Do you get a solid 8 hours out of it at least? Is it replaceable?
Im going to go look this all up on Google right now, but I'd like to hear your input.
Really, if anyone else's MP3 player can act like a mass storage device allowing you to click and drag your own directories, please let me know. This is never mentioned in any review I look up on the common players.

Grrr, you already have a battery!!!! Put it in already and say thank you! :p
Anyway, I have the Creative Zen Vision:M 30 gig. I had a small problem with the hard drive (I believe) shortly after I got it, but that got resolved and all is good now. The software it comes with for your computer is awesome. Very easy to use. It does let you set up folders how you want and customize all that, but that stuff is not the basic click and drag, you do have to work at it for a few minutes and figure it all out. But I am guessing since this is what you say you want, you are willing to work on figuring out the software to do it. For the money you will spend, I think it is worth it. There is a built in voice recorder and FM radio as well. You can hook it up to a TV to play videos you have stored, etc. The features are awesome. I'd definitely recommend this player over the iPod from what I know about those
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
